It sounds like it could be the lid switch, check to make sure the lid switch is clicking when you close the lid.

SOURCE: washer stops and start button blinks

The solution is pretty simple. there is a filter located right before the water pump.
* Remove the lower panel (lower as if you were looking at the front of the machine)
* Remove the 3 screws (it is easy if you have the lower drawer unit .. you will have to 'get low' if you don;t have it)
* You will see a 3" cap right facing you (in the center)
* GET A POT. and place it below the cap (foul water will come out when you remove the cap)
* remove the cap (finger tight)
* I found coins, hair, lint, dollar bills .. etc (about the size of a roll of cookie dough)
* Take CLEAN water and dump it into the washing machine (this will clean out the tube/hose)
* replace cap
* run machine BEFORE you put the cover back on (make sure it doesn;t leak)
* replace cover/screws

Good luck!

Hello rschneeweis

Sounds like a seal or drain hose is leaking or the clamp on a hose has vibrated loose.

Water leaking out the bottom of the machine when washing machine begins agitation cycle. If the machine is turned off the water stops leaking even with the tub full of water.

Let me know if you found it and how you do.

SOURCE: washer wont agitate.

Hose must fit tight on switch and tub connection-make sure it has no defects in it. If machine fully drained then did not get to correct water level when restarted then water level switch is bad. Please contact me if you need further help or leave feedback if appropriate as that is how I get paid. Thanks for letting me help you!

What would cause a GE Harmony washer to fill too slowly? The water in cold water wash cycle literally just dribbles into the tub.

The filler hose has a wire mesh filter in it to keep the inlet water from passing particles that would keep the solenoid valve from closing completely. Shut off the water and take the hose off from both the faucet and the washer. clean the screen and check the one in the washer too.

I have a GE washer model # WHDRR418GWW. It is about 19 months old. It stopped agitating and spinning. It will fill with water and the timer/knob will go thru the cycles. But when it reaches the washing...

You have what is called "agitating dogs" there are usually 4 of them at the bottom of the agitator. They have small grippers which lock onto the agitator and agitates. If the washer is ever overfilled or over time filled to heavy this will wear down the nylon teeth on the "dogs". The top of the agitator will spin off, you will see a bolt inside at the bottom, remove bolt and the agitator will pull out. Google "agitating dogs on washer. It will give you pictures for a better understanding. If the belt was broken the washer would not drain, because the belt turns the pump. These dogs are about $5 and honestly easy to install. Good Luck.

Occasionally it will overfill

The water level switch is your problem.
Open the control panel and remove the plastic hose from the level switch and blow through it.
Soap and dirt clog the bottom end and prevents the switch from stopping. The water continues to flow because of this blockage.
After you reattach the plastic hose , set the washer to spin and turn it on to reset the switch.

GE washer does not agitate. Water does not stop filling.

If it does not agitate at all, then it is either the motor, the clutch/motor control or the agitator.

If the machine start agitating only when you advance manually the control knob, and at the same time is overfilling, that is probably because of the problem with the water inlet valve, or the water level switch, and that is also cusing the cycle to stop.

GE washer

mostly likely your pressure switch has gone bad or the hose has come loose from the pressure switch. open access to the console. your pressure switch is the water level. if the hose is attached, then the switch itself is bad. Joe

GE Washer overfilled, now won't spin

Could possibly be that the water level switch in the console has gone bad.  Sometimes the small hose that connects the basket and the switch can come off, causing the overfill.  Sounds like maybe the water switch has gone bad though if I were to guess at it.  If it goes bad, it will send the timer a signal that its full, when its not.  Could also be a bad timer, but that only happens on rare occasions, but it does happen.  Let me know how it goes or if you need break down instructions, etc.  Jim
