The water leaks between the cabinet and the top at the left side rear area when filling the tub. it seems to be somehow related with the water level selector.

I have the same problem. I can lift the top of the washer to see the water leaking at the clamp of the intake hose where it hooks onto a black plastic part. I can't raise the top farther than about 3 inches to get to the part. I don't want to force it. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have the same problem with water leaking when the washer is filling. I can raise the top far enough to see the water leaking from the intake hose at the back where it clamps onto a black plastic part. I cannot raise the top more than about 3 inches to get to the part. I don't want to force it. Any suggestions on tilting the top back? It's a very old Kelvinator (W841B) and I probably won't be able to get the part. It looks like a hose that can be purchased from an auto part or hardware store. I can only see the top of the hose where the leak is, so I don't know if there is more to it than just a hose. Water is spraying out right at the clamp. The machine is old enough (40+ years) and the hose is original, so it would make sense that the hose is dried and leaking finally. Thank you.

Raise the washer top and inspect the water fill tube and the water level air hose.
You will need to set the timer to fill while you are watching for the water leak.

What could be leaking from front left side of my whirlpool sm8525079

These washers have a plastic basket/tub that can crack or get holes in them. if your tub has a hole, you will need to remove the cabinet first, then use a spanner wrench to remove the wash tub. You can then repair the hole with epoxy and reassemble.

If the tub is intact, it may simply be that a hose has come loose. Either way, get out your screwdriver and take the cabinet sides off so that you can see where the water is coming from.

My kenmore washer molel 110-82873120 is leeking from the top.

Dear R.A.,
If your washer is leaking you should first check the hoses.
  • There are several types of hoses found on a washing machine and the most common are the drain and fill hoses.
  • The fill hoses connect the household supply to the water inlet valve and are normally located at the rear of the washer. Check to make sure that the threaded fittings are tightened securely and that the leak is not caused by the faucet.
  • The drain hose is also located at the rear of the machine and may not be properly installed into the household drain. Verify that the leak is not caused by a restricted household drain that is backing up through the stand pipe.
  • Washers will also have internal hoses that connect the inlet valve to the tub. A defect in this hose would create a leak during the fill cycle.
  • Access the tub inlet by lifting the main top or removing the cabinet and inspect the hoses for signs of abrasion or cracking.
  • Also inspect the other components of the water inlet system such as a siphon break or tub injection assembly for signs of a leak. Check for loose or corroded clamps, and cracked or perforated hoses.
  • Your inlet Valves may also be totally defective and cause the washer to overfill therefore causing a leak over the top.
  • Check for the tub Pressure switch assembly may be defective causing such leak.
  • Your model requires removing the complete cabinet.(front and sides come out as on piece) Here a link to all your machine parts
I think we cover all the possibilities.
Best of Luck,
JP

First ck to see if your water pump is leaking. It normally leaks when the machine is running not just filling. Also look at all the attaching rubber hoses under the machine and see if water is leaking down the back right side of the machine and then running around the frame to the front long shot but possible.

Keeps over filling and water leaking out of side and front

There is a valve mounted on the rear of the cabinet which is supposed to cut off the water flow when the water level reaches a set point. A clear plastic tube will run from the bottom of the tub to this valve. Replace the valve, reconnect the plastic tube. Should solve the problem.

Just moved. New washer leaks water and appears tub is off center

CHECK THE BALANCE SPRING LOCATED (INSIDE LEFT REAR OF MACHINE). IF SPRING IS OFF IT CAN CAUSE THE TUB TO TILT TOWARD THE FRONT AND THE TUB FILL HOOD WILL NOT BE OVER THE TUB DURING FILLING OR THE TUB WILL BE ERATIC DURING THE SPIN WHEN RINSE WATER IS SPAYING IN CAUSE ING THE WATER TO MISS THE TUB AND SPRAY OUTSIDE. THIS IS COMMON IF THE UNIT HAS BEEN MOVED OR PLACED ON IT'S SIDE OR CARRIED AT EXTREME ANGLE.

Water coming from bottom of machine

If this only happens when the machine is filling the hose leading to the top of the tub may be leaking. Before it fills this hose is disconnected from the water supply by a closed solenoid valve. There are two valves which feed into a common hose that comes up to the top of the tub where the water runs into the tub. The leak does not happen after the tub fills because all the water leaks out and no new water runs in. These hoses are usually very small and very inexpensive and held on with clamps. They can usually be replaced by removing a small panel near the hose attachment location.
