Press F8 when you start the computer. Are you able to boot into "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"?

Let me know and we'll go from there.

Sounds like there is a problem with your hard drive. It could be hardware related. Do you have an XP or Vista CD?

Yeah sounds like there is a problem with the disk for sure. Well you're gonna need to find an XP or Vista cd so that you can run a disk check from the cd. Once you get a hold of one let me know and we'll go from there.

The screen isn't working...i plugged in a vga cable yesterday to use as a screen but it changed the settings a little bit. I went in and plugged the cable in today to change it back to the normal settings...

Try booting into safe mode (press F8 repeatedly while starting up computer). Once in safe mode, you should have display (probably at 800x600) and you can reset it to whatever and reboot to normal.

If your settings are incompatible with the monitor specs you get results like you are seeing.

I don't remember the password to my laptop. I need help unlocking it please?

If you lost windows password. I think the best solution is making a windows password recovery disk with the third part utility. The disk works perfectly to recover windows password to “Blank”.It is also useful for administrator password recovery, you can wrote it to an blank CD or USB flash drive to recover administrator password. Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

I have sony vaio VGN-AX580G-when I turn it on, it says it failed load windows. Im then given the otion to choose safe mode, safe mode with networking, or safe mode with command prompt. All three take me...

If you have the recovery disk(s) shut the computer off and boot from the cd. Try repairing the installation first. You may need to re-install Windows, meaning any data on the machine will be lost. Good luck.

I notice a difference in the setup of the two monitors, have you installed the correct driver for the new screen?

Try F8 on startup to get into safe mode, this should allow you to use the default VGA screen, and to reset the correct monitor drivers.

Are you able to start the computer in safe mode?
Try starting the computer into safe mode by following the instructions found here.
If the computer loads in safe mode, then you can try disabling some startup programs by reading the instructions found here and restarting your computer. If this fails to fix it, you'll probably need to reinstall windows.
