This is a type of video that can be played on your computer and portable media players.
The most important feature of a WMV file is that its format allows
large video files to be compressed, retaining the rich quality of the
video. It is a file format developed to store video content in a
compressed format, so that movies and other video programs can be
viewed on a personal computer. These videos can be watched from the
hard drive of your computer, or other media players. To play a WMV
file, a set of codecs are required. A codec is a program that can
easily read a file, creating video and audio formats from the provided
data. WMV files may be played on Microsoft Windows Media Player and
other media players as well. The latest version of WMV is WMV10.
1. Check whether the file format of the audio file you are trying to play in the Walkman is supported by the Walkman. You can check the supported file formats in the manual of the Walkman under "Specifications".
2. Check whether the issue occurs with all the audio files. If you are not able to play the file which you were able to play in past, then it must be the issue with the Walkman.
Then you may reset the Walkman to check whether the issue is resolved. Press the RESET button located at the bottom of the Walkman to reset it. You may also try Formatting (USE FORMAT OPTION IN WALKMAN) the Walkman and re-transfer the audio files to the Walkman to check whether the issue is resolved. NOTE: Never format the Walkman in the Computer as it will delete all the Supporting files in the memory of the Walkman.
You may also try transferring the audio files using the supplied Software like Content Transfer, WMP 11 and SonicStage.
Are the files actually .mp3 format? There are a few different compressed formats available now and some mp3 players etc are not compatible with these formats.
Older players (and some current ones) for instance will not play .wma files which are Windows Media Audio files.
If your adding music to the device and its not playing, its because your audio files are not the correct format. This unit only plays MP3 audio or Uncopyrighted Windows Media Audio files. You can test this by connecting the MP3 player, copy one of the sampe audio files under 'My Music' location on your computer and paste it on your mp3 player. It will play the audio fine.
How to play: Hold in play button until red ligh is steady, then press Play again to start the audio.
Make sure you remove any audio file that is not the correct format.
to check format of song:
