Question about HP LaserJet P3005n Printer

3 Answers

Printer prints poor quality copies with one black smudged stripe down left side of paper and paper gets wrinkled before coming out. I've just replaced ink cartridge and done cleaning of cartridge. I've experimented with high and low fusion settings and they don't seem to make a difference.

Hi there.
The whole of the printer needs to be cleaned. Turn off the printer, Unplug the printer from the surge suppressor, Remove the internal paper trays, Remove the toner cartridge and place it on a piece of scrap paper, Clean inside the toner cavity with a dry, lint-free cloth and brush (if a brush is supplied with the printer), Clean the printer mirror gently with the brush. Don't touch the mirror if a brush isn't provided, Wipe away dust and spilled toner. Remove paper fragments, Clean the rollers, but don't touch the sponge roller, Replace the toner cartridge and put it all back together again.
Then try printing again and i think your problem will be resolved

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Try doing a print head clean a few times, but this sounds like a defective or overfilled cart problem.

I have a Canon Imagerunner 1023if and have black smudges along the left edge of paper, both copies and printed directly from computer.

this is possibly a problem in the fuseing part of your machine, where the paper heats up at the back, the fuser roller could be worn out. and your toner could be sticking to it.

Black smudges down left side of page

How do I clean white or black spots on printed documents? Description: First make 10 to 15 copies of a blank, white sheet of paper.
If you still see the spots on printed documents after making multiple copies, clean the drum unit as follows:

  1. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly, and then remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit.
  2. Position the print sample in front of the drum unit so you will know the exact position on the drum that is causing the poor print.
  3. all-ug-19.gif
  4. Turn the black gear on the drum as you check the surface of the OPC drum.
The OPC drum is photosensitive so do not touch it with your fingers.
  5. all-ug-20.gif
  6. When you find the substance on the drum surface that matches the print sample, gently dab the surface of the OPC drum with a cotton swab that is lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
  7. Note
      • Do not use a scrubbing or wiping motion because this might damage the drum.

      • Do not try to clean the surface of the OPC drum with a sharp object, such as a ball-point pen, because this might cause permanent damage to the drum unit.
  8. If the print quality still has not improved you need to install a new drum.

I have black smudgy lines going down the left hand side of my printed copies. What do I do?

1. Check the toner level, when it's low the quality of the prints becomes poor.
2. If toner level is good, clean out the printer inside. The best way is to buy an air compressed can, get the printer in an open space and blow any toner from the inside of the printer. Give it a good clean as there might be residual toner inside that make the poor quality.

CLJ8550n poor print quality and wrinkled paper

this is usually not caused by the paper tray. this problem is usually caused by the fuser assembly. check your paper path. dead cycle the printer, shut the printer down before the paper enters the fusing area, check for wrinkles. remove all paper, print again, check the output, wrinkles, replace the fuser.

Black strip Mark on paper after print

Ramana is the black stripe just showing up on copies or faxes or does the stripe occur when you are printing from your computer. If the stripe only occurs when copying or faxing then more than likely the scanner glass is dirty. White out liquid on the scanner glass is a common. If it happens when printing fromyour pc, the problem will be in the toner cartridge or the fusing assembly.
Change the cartridge first to see if it goes away. Check the scanner glass, especially the small glass strip on the left side of the scanner or the right side where you place the original paper. These areas should be completely clear and clean of any scratches or smudges.
Last is the fusing assembly. If you tried everything else and theline continues to bother you, the fusing assembly sleve is probably torn. This would have to be replaced. The part number is RM1-0865-040CN.
