Question about Harman Kardon AVR 130 Receiver

1 Answer

NO LEFT, RIGHT, AND CENTER SURROUND

I have no sound coming out of the left, right and center channel speakers, I currently have the left & right connected to the Rear surround and not able to use my center channel. I tried everything I could think of even reseting to factory default settings. not sure if my bose system is the problem or the reciever. both will be expensive to have a technician troubleshoot. From what my wife said, while I was out of town my grandson was turning the reciever on and off. I think this may be the cause of the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

yes, on my bose subwoofer I tried plugging the left and right surround and center speaker into different plugs and the speakers worked and on my reciever I switched the left & right surround speakers to the rear surround and they work but don't sound as good.

how much do you think it will cost if I take the reciever to a shop.

I have my old pioneer that I was using before I got my HK. I think I will hook it back up and try your suggestion.

Hi there
have u tried connecting the centre speaker to another amplifier to see if the speaker actually works....

if it does then it cud be the output transistors blown or the actual OP-Amp for that channel

mmmmm u may need to test the speakers on a different amplifier. it sounds as tho there is a problem with the output channels for the speakers your not getting audio from.

Turn up the volume on the left or right speakers or turn down the center channel volume to meet your preferences. There should be a setting for that in most receivers.

there are 2 channel modes on your reciever, as well as surround modes, and it sounds like you have changed modes by accident. just open the little door on the front, and take it out of 2 channel mode

I have a htr 6130 yamaha reciever and when i hook my five channel home theater system it plays for a while then when i turn it up to almost max it turns the unit off completly... how do i hook up my

Hook all the positive and negative wires correctly and read on the speakers and make sure you have them all in the right spot and if that doesnt help its probably because the reciever is maxed out wich is triggering a kill switch wich some recievers have as a safety feature so you dont blow your speakers

Yamaha rx 530 center channel cuts out

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I've tried using the balance for left and right speakers, and when the receiver is acting up with the right speaker having a low volume, I tried moving the balance all the way over to the right speaker. The right speaker volume will not increase in volume but the left speaker will decrease in volume.

Just to clarify, the center and the rear speakers are balanced. The issue only happens sometimes when I first power on the receiver I will have no center channel. If I leave everything alone for a few mins, the center channel will come on.

So it seems to me that something one the receiver is going. The question is, can anyone suggest a physical repair for the receiver for these symptoms?

Thanks

In dolby digital mode i can not get any voice volume. All other sounds are ok

Assuming that you mean Dolby digital 5.1, confirm that you have a center channel properly connected and perform the following;

Using the remote, enter the menu on the receiver and navigate to the selection labeled "LEVEL." Toggle through the selections until you reach the "CENTER CHANNEL". You will be able to use the remote to increase the volume of that channel in .5dB increments.

Center and surround speakers work, but front right and front left speakers do not put out any sound

I had the same problem. Set the reciever on 6 channel stereo. On this setting, you should be getting the same sound out of each speaker. Isolate which speakers aren't getting sound. Now, on your speaker switch (the A/B button), select A. If that doesn't fix it, select B. If that doesn't fix it, try A and B (if you can on your reciever).

Now, when you switch back to pro-logic, make sure your a/b channel switch is in the position that worked in 6 channel stereo. Yamaha recievers have a memory, and when you switch various modes, it makes auto adjustments based on what you had set in the past.

Hope this helps
