Don't want a transmission report after each sent fax
Hello, we allow two other departments to share our XEROX FAXCENTER F116 fax machine. Someone has set the machine up to print out a confirmation transmission after each sent fax. I don't have the book and need to stop this needless waste of paper. Please help!
Also, can I lock the fax machine so no one else can make changes but me and still allow faxes to be sent?
Thank you, Debbie

Re: don't want a transmission report after each sent fax
On the machine there is a menu button.
the menu can be printed out so you can see all the areas to select.
If you scroll to through the menu, you will find a set up or incoming fax menu.
You need to set confirmation to off.
This will take some time to find the right menu, so be patient with the machine.

One needs to know what they are doing when resetting memory to the machine.
When resetting the machine, one needs to consider, the loss of memory data on the copy cartridge counter in the machine.
When resetting memory a copy toner cartridge needs to be in stock with a counter reset card.
Erasing memory will wipe out the old copy/toner cartridge odometer setting, resuling in "Replace toner/cartridge" error.
Please clarify which memory area is being erased.
Check menu,8,2. You may be able to print out the road map on the different menue configuration.
You should be able to print out by
selecting menu ,*, 8 and printed with Menu, "*", 1.
Not seeing the machine is difficult to see the different ways the menus are going to.
Technical parameters are different and has a different enter mode. This needs to be researched further for explination.
Good luck, this may take a lead in the right direction.
This would be an expensive process event to try an old card when entering a used modual. The card resents the main board the the card cannot be used again.
If anything else send the cartridges back to Xerox.
If you try to experiment with a new card, and an old drum, chances are you will create new problems for the Xerox repairman to fix.
Keep a new supply of toners and drums and make sure each item has the card in the box, and do not allow the customers or casual operatiors, including Managers!!!! , to swap theses items on their own.
They are too expensive to trouble-shoot and experiment with.
Look in you menus. Your log print out is probably set to on and set to print out way to frequently. You can turn that feature off. You can go to Xerox.com, click on Support and drivers. In the search box type in 116 then go to support and then type in Log, There should be an answer there as to how to shut off log printing. You cold also type in code 19 when you get to the support page.
If this is on a network your network tech needs to set up your machine through one of the routers.
If the machine was pluged into the phone socet direct, there would be no problem. The phone will ring constantly, until you plug the phone to the machine.
If the machine does not answer the phone, then the problem maybe in the machines confguration for auto answer, or a modem board not working.
But on a network, the computer is trying to find the signal, but can't because it cannot find the machines signal.
This problem is in the network side. Check with your network specialist.
The machine can print a transmission (confirmation) report after each transmitted fax. This report indicates whether or not the fax has reached the intended recipient. Four different settings are available for the transmission report:
With: a report is printed when the fax transmission was successfully sent or when it is completely abandoned. There is only one report for each fax sent.
Without: no transmission report is automatically printed, however, the machine will save all fax transmissions that took place in memory. The faxes sent can be viewed by printing out a transmission log (report).
Always: a report is printed after each successful or interrupted transmission.
On Error: a report is printed only if the transmission failed or is abandoned.
NOTE: With each transmission report from memory, a reduced version of the first page is automatically reproduced.
To modify the report type setting:
Press the [OK] button directly below the Display Screen. '1 Installation' and '2 Fax' will be displayed.
Press , on the numeric keypad. ‘25 >Send Report’ will be displayed.
Press [OK]. The transmission report screen will be displayed.
Press the up or down arrow button directly below the Display Screen to select a transmission report setting, then press [OK]. ‘25 Send Report’ will be displayed.
NOTE: As the up and down arrow buttons are pressed, the menu will scroll through the available choices and move the greater than symbol (>). Stop when the greater symbol is in front of the appropriate selection.
Press the [Stop] button on the Control Panel. The 'Date / Time' screen will be displayed
I believe there should be a "Clear memory", or "dump fax Memory", in the menu selection.
Press reports and scroll to machine print out. You should get a print out on the machines configuration and help menu to better assist you.
This should dump the memory so you can prepare yourself for new incoming faxex.
