GBV441 Goldstar DVD Player / VCR Combo

There's sound but progressive scan mode appears on blue screen. VCR plays wonderfully. Purchased a RF Modulator and S Video and Coaxial and F - Type connectors. Still Progressive scan mode remains. The RF Modulator picks up a signaal because the red light appears. Any suggestions. I have a goldstar dvd model # GBV441 I can't get it off of progessive scan mode. I tried to hit stop and hold # 9 but it still won't go away. I did not see a ? mark after stop can you help me? I have tried several times.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Disabling PS (Progressive Scan) mode could be performed by:

  • ensure tray/changer is empty, no discs;
  • set TV to the channel you RF modulator is configured;
  • TV should display "Progressive Scan Mode";
  • press and hold the stop button for 5-10 seconds;
  • this would reset the unit reverting it back to factory defaults.;
  • all user settings would be deleted including PS mode.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

To exit progressive scan you must reset the unit.

1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc
tray.
2) Press STOP button and hold it for more then five
seconds on the dvd player (not remote).

Now it will exit from this mode.

Once the setting for progressive scan output is entered,
an image will only be visible on a progressive scan
compatible TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan
to On in error, you must reset the unit.
1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc
tray. See that ?dISC? is displayed on the display window.
2) Press STOP (9) and hold it for more then --five
-------seconds before releasing it. The video output will be
restored to the standard setting and a picture will
once again be visible on a conventional analog TV

GoldStar DVD/VCR-progressive scan mode problem...``

Remove any DVDs from the disc player. You should be in Blue Screen mode on the TV...If it says "Progressive Scan Mode" ....make sure there is no DVD in it...close the disc changer and push and hold the "Stop" Button on the player, not the remote, for 5 seconds or longer. This has been proven to work every time!!!
