Norton A/V should not have anything to do with it. Maybe you should try updating the driver. If there is no available update for it then try to download this freeware it is an automatic driver updater it may help fix any problems your having.

Download the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger at the Messenger home page (see the Resources section below) or launch your existing Messenger software and log in to the system.

  • 2

Clck the Messenger menu and select the 'Start My Webcam' option, or you can click the camera icon found in the IM window toolbar or select the 'Contact' menu in the IM window and choose 'Invite To View My Webcam.'

Use your webcam to transmit live video images of anything within the camera's range. You can also communicate by voice and text messaging during a webcam chat session.

My webcam is not working with live messenger. I

Here's a suggestion. You may be able to free it from use by whatever is using it in the background by going into the Task manager by pressing Ctrl +Alt + Del and going to the processes tab. Then go to the process for the camera. It may or may not be obvious (might say lifecam or something like that) and then end the process. Ignore the warning. Then go ahead and try the live messenger and see if that works.

Webcam problem on windows live messenger 2009

there could be the problem with registry keys conflicting with each other,
Tools > Audio and video setup...

Follow the instructions on the setup screen and once its finished, you will find that the webcam should be able to show up.
If it doesn't show the webcam on the other person, tell him to switch his status to busy for 5 seconds and then back, hopefully that should come up on the other persons screen.

If this hasn't work in most cases it should work - You will have to downgrade to Windows Live Messenger 8.5 and hopefully it should work.

If this hasn't work, go to the HP website and search up webcam drivers for your device and then install it on your computer - Hopefully your webcam would work.
if it does not work then you have to download reginout registry cleaner to fix this problem

    Webcam not working..

check your messenger's video settings to see if the setting has the default webcam. If not change it to the webcam available in your laptop. If the problem persists, then uninstall and reinstall your messenger. this would probably solve the issue.

    Good luck!

When i am on msn and want to put on webcam a message appears in a conversation saying Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x8ac70202)

This might be a compatibility problem between your webcam drivers with the new Windows Live Messenger program. You may want to:

    1. Update your webcam drivers and see if Windows Live Messenger can detect it when you run the Audio Video setup from its Tools menu.

    2. Or you can downgrade back to the older version of Windows Live Messenger which is compatible for your camera. Doing this however also requires that you uninstall all the Windows Live Beta products from your computer.

Note: You will not see a separate Windows Live Messenger on your Add/Remove programs, instead you will either see there Windows Live Beta products or Windows Live Essentials.

You can download the older versions of Windows Live Messenger from:

    Windows Live Messenger 8.1:

    Windows Live Messenger 8.5:

Using new Satallite P200-1EE, webcam is not connected message with Yahoo Messenger

I'm using a Toshiba satellite notebook A200, which I faced the same problem like you saying my built- in webcam cannot operate after I clicked on the drop down list from the windows live messenger to have a webcam conversation. Another program is running the webcam at startup. That program is called Camera Assistant Software which is the conflicting software. Therefore I closed this software and I'm able to use my webcam again in my webcam conversation in windows live messenger. I hope this information will help you.Good Luck!
