Maintenance Required I have had the oil changed in my Infiniti sereval times, but I haven't taken it to the Infiniti dealer. So every time I start the vehicle the Maintenance Required message pops up on the navigation screen. I have to turn that message off every time I start the vehicle and it gets old. Is there a trick to get it turned off? I just don't want to have to take it to Infiniti to have the oil changed and pay more for them to push a few buttons and make the maintenance message stop. Thank you for any help you can give me!

I have the same problem; in another forum thread I found that something called a 'code reader' is required to turn off the warning and that some auto parts stores might be able to do it? Has anyone done that?

2000 infiniti QX4 3.3L (engine has a distributer) stalls out especially when revved from idle. Also won't start or very difficult to start, haven't been able to get it to start for a couple days...

pull one ignition cable out of cap just enough to see the tip of connector and crank it, a spark should jump from cap to tip of wire. no spark means you need the whole distributor replaced. buy it from nissan or infiniti dealer, it comes with cap rotor installed and 12 mo 12k mile warranty, no matter who installs it. dont waste time with aftermarket rebuilt distributor, those are not reliable. https://parts.infinitiusa.com/

Why does my maintenance required light flashes 6 times after starting my 2005 toyota corolla?

its to let you know that its almost time to change your oil. it will stay on when the car has reached 5000 miles since your last oil change or since the light was last reset.

2008 infiniti g37 motor is knocking has 16500 miles on it.

Please change the oil now at the Nissan garage and watch the vehicle closely.

$100 is not so much like getting your car totally knocked.

Good luck and rate this solution/ suggestion.

Maintence required on red

Maintenance Required is a light that comes on after a predetermined number of miles. For example, if the maintenance schedule Honda set for the car calls for an oil change at 3000 miles, a new fan belt at 6000 miles, and another oil change at 9000 miles, then the maintenance required light will come on every 3000 miles and stay on until it is reset by the dealer. Some people, especially those that do their own regular maintenance but don't have a way to reset the light themselves, find this an annoyance. But others find it useful and take their cars in to the dealer every time the light comes on, and they rest assured that all of the regular maintenance is always done on time.

What this light does NOT do however is signal that there is anything immanently wrong with your car. It is not a "Check Engine" light (that's the one you should worry about if it ever comes on), but merely a reminder for you to do preventative maintenance. That doesn't mean you should *ignore* it, per se, as you want to make sure you have your car on some kind of maintenance schedule, even if yours is not as strict as Honda's. But there is no need to panic.

Maintenance screen

If your vehicle has a info button which it should, you would press the info button repeatedly until you reach the oil change, oil filter and tire rotation intervals. Once you reach the oil change you should be able to press enter and then toggle down until reset is highlighted and then press enter again. Same thing for the other maintenance intervals. I worked for a dealer for 10 years, but haven't seen one of those since 06. If you like you can email me directly and I will be happy to help you.

Please note:

Honda makes reference to proper vehicle maintenance in their service/user manual. Consult your authorized Honda dealer before doing anything that may void your vehicle warranty.

Resetting the Engine Oil Life
Indicator

Your dealer will reset the display
after completing the required
maintenance service. You will see
‘‘OIL LIFE 100 %’’ on the odometer/
trip meter display the next time you
turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position.

If maintenance service is done by
someone other than your dealer,
reset the maintenance minder as
follows:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position.

2. Press the Select/Reset knob until
the engine oil life indicator is
displayed.

3. Press the Select/Reset knob for
more than 10 seconds. The engine
oil life indicator and the
maintenance item code(s) will
blink.

4. Press the Select/Reset knob for
more than 5 seconds. The
maintenance items code(s) will
disappear, and the engine oil life
will reset to ‘‘100.’’

Important Maintenance
Precautions

If you have the required service
done but do not reset the display, or
reset the display without doing the
service, the system will not show the
proper maintenance intervals. This
can lead to seriousmechanical
problems because you will no longer
have an accurate record of when
maintenance is needed.
Your authorized Honda dealer
knows your vehicle best and can
provide competent, efficient service.
However, service at a dealer is not
mandatory to keep your warranties
in effect. Maintenance may be done
by any qualified service facility or
person who is skilled in this type of
automotive service. Make sure to
have the service facility or person
reset the display as previously
described. Keep all receipts as proof
of completion, and have the person
who does the work fill out the
maintenance record. Check your
warranty booklet for more
information.
