Did you try the monitor on another computer to rule that out?

Hi Cactus,

My name is ArmyMason, let me get this straight. You have a Dell Dimension 4700 and the Monitor isnt working with the PC? This could be one of two things. Either the monitor is bad, to test this I would connect it to some other computer to verify its not the monitor. It could be the video card. According to Dell it the light combo you gave me indicates their is an issue with the floppy or hard drive and you should check to see if all the cables are correctly seated on the motherboard and on the Drives.

I really think it could be an issue with the video card. To resolve this I would consider purchasing a new card or rip one out of an old know good computer to see if that is the issue.

Thanks,
ArmyMason

Remove ALL media from the machine DVD, CD, USB, etc. Check/reseat all Monitor cables. Reboot. If that fails, unplug , plug back in in 30 seconds or so. reboot, if you get a Dell Logo, Open the boot Menu and select Boot from HDD first.

Hello,
From your description, it would seem that the monitor itself could be the problem. If you have a second monitor, try to plug that in and see what occurs. If you have a display, you have located the problem. You may also try to go to the BIOS and disable the onboard video, so that the GeForce will load. It could be conflicting with the onboard video.
Let me know how you make out,

Can not make my pc work with dual monitor, one with the DVI and the other one VGA. My PC is a Dell Dimension 4700

You are right, you can not make that work. You need either dvi or vga,on both monitors. You can not mix them, sorry.Check for an empty pci or pcie slot and add another video card.

How to fix no video

If the onboard VGA is not working you can install a PCI video card in an empty slot inside the computer. Also, verify it's not the monitor that's the problem by connecting it to another computer.

My dell 4700 diagnostic lights A&B are yellow, C&D are green & the monitor is dark. I can not get anything to show up on the monitor. Everything has power & was working normally yesterday....

the LED indication is a Memory failure. Make sure when inserting RAM that the power is unplugged and you press and hold the power button till all power is discharged from the motherboard. WHen inserting RAM, make sure levers are int he full back position and you press down firmly with both thumbs till the module snaps in place and the levers snap up in the locked position on their own (DO not pull up the levers)
If there is no change trying RAM modules in slots individually, then either all RAM modules are damaged, or the slot is bad, in which case a motherboard is required

Dell Dimension 4700 PC-I am trying to connect my pc to my HDTV. I was unsuccessful in using a VGA cable. I adjusted the output to 1280 x 780 x 60, but all I see is static. Help! Do I need a new video...

Hello,

Yes, You will a new video card, if possible, one that is PCIe with DVI outputs andor HDMI outputs and as much onboard memory your budget will allow. The standard VGA port on your motherboard can not support the refresh rate of the HDTV thus the static.

Beep problem Dell Dimension 4700

Beep problem update - Dell 4700. Last night started computer - cold boot. The screen had just started to light up and then went black and computer started beeping in an interrupted sequence. Fan speed increased considerably (suggesting overheat?) Shut it down and attempted two restarts with no success. This morning I unplugged all cords, opened case, pulled and reset memory cards and vacuumed inside. The computer was very clean so really don't suspect that dust was an issue. Buttoned it back up plugged in plugs and restart successfully accomplished. Have no clue why. Some square electrons, I guess.
