My Hp Pavilion dv6700 laptop will not start properly. I was in the process of installing a program, and the screen forze. I restarted the computer by holding down the power button, and I tried to reinstall the program. The screen froze again, and I did the same thing to restart it, only this time, I never got past the loading page. The computer makes a clicking noise, over and over as if it is loading, but I think that indicates that it has a problem.. I tried to go to system restore, and the screen turns blue, as if it is going to the system restore page, but then comes the clicking noise, and it freezes. I've let it sit, and I've tried to start normally, but all I get is a 2 second glimpse of an error screen that is blue. It does not stay up long enough for me to read it. Please someone help, this computer is only 5 months old, and I don't want to waste money, or rather I can't waste any money on a new hard drive... HELP PLEASE!!

Re: My Hp Pavilion dv6700 laptop will not start properly....
Hi there. Seeing as the laptop is only 5 months old it is still covered by the manufacturers warranty, the clicking sound you can hear is the hard drive failing, the hard drive is hardware and IS covered by the warranty. Send it back to HP it won't cost you anything to have it repaired.

About it being an HP Pavilion dv6700 laptop? Ehhh, giveittome. I will use it.
Looks like I'm going to have to guess since the 'Issue' wasn't stated.
The main problem with the Pavilion dv6700, which is part of the Pavilion dv6000 series of Notebook PC's, is that all the indicator lights come up, but there are no graphics being shown on the LCD screen. The screen is black.
This is due to a graphics chipset problem, caused by a poor cooling design of HP designers.
The graphics chipset (GPU. Graphics Processing Unit), is mounted to the motherboard in a BGA surface mount.
Instead of pins coming off of the bottom of the chipset, as on the older Processors, there are Solder Balls.
The motherboard has tiny copper pads that line up to the solder balls. The graphics chipset is set into place, then heat is used to melt the solder balls, and attach the graphics chipset to the motherboard.
Due to the poor cooling design, the graphics chipset overheats, and the solder connections are partially melted. The graphics chip now has a poor contact to the motherboard.

HI there. We'll I hate being the barer of bad news but the HP DV series of laptops have been having a lot of issues with losing video, continually restarting, or just plain do nothing. Hopefully your laptop is still under warranty or someone else knows of a quick fix. I've had to send out the motherboards for 2 of these to get fixed. One of them ended up being the video card on the board. And the other ended up becoming a replacement motherboard.
Here is a link to what other people are having to deal with on their Hp's.
restart your computer, hold down f8 untill you see the windows trouble screen, on that screen choose: safe mode then when windows loads repair your resolution and, remove the game from your computer then restart the computer again
Try updating ALL Video Card & HDMI Drivers from manufacturers web site, that will probably be the best chance at a fix, this is a driver issue. Connect up this way... Start TV... plug in Cable to TV & PC, now, startup PC.
