Question about Kenmore Dryers

Old model Kenmore stackable washer & dryer, dryer is dead

I have an old model Kenmore stackable washer & dryer, about 10 to 15 yrs old. The washer part works but the dryer part is dead. It's a Kenmore All in one stackable washer and dryer. They are not separate but permanently attached. I believe the model to be 417, it looks just like it. There are no numbers on the machine itself. Can you help me?

SOURCE: How to seperate a Kenmore dryer from the washer under it?

This is probably a model that has two access holes at the bottom front of the dryer -about 4-5" from each side- usually closed off with plastic discs. Just an inch up from the washing machine.  Pry out the plastic discs with a flat screwdriver and you should see a screw inside each of the two openings.  Remove the screws and you will be able to tip the dryer up and slide it back a few inches to detatch from the back.

Use two people to lift the dryer down as it is bulky but not too heavy.

could be a bad motor or timer contacts. can you hear a humming sound coming from the motor if you tried starting it again? if there is none, wait for about 5 mins and try starting it again, hear what happens?..

SOURCE: Stacked SEARS DRYER MODEL NUMBER 417-82142101

with 2 people. There are 2 white caps towards the bottom of the dryer hiding 2 screws. remove the screws and tilt the dryer back about 2 inches, while tilted back pull the whole dryer foward and it will free the dryer from the brackets in the back.

SOURCE: asko stackable dryer/Bosch stackable washer compatability

If you arer going to replace the washer with a Bosch Axxis model, it will simply plug into the back of the dryer (if it is electric) because normally the dryers are 220 VAC. Works A-OK.

SOURCE: Kenmore washer dryer age?

Next to the serial number there should be a manufacter date. that is when it was made. I am guessing 2 years old.
But check on the back, it is peobaly printed on a small metal tag.
Most electronics have a manufacter date posted on them for warrenty sake. yours may still have a warrenty. you can also go to Kenmore website and in the search area type in the serial number and it can tell lots of info including if it is still under warrenty. wouldn't that be a nice surprise!

SOURCE: Kenmore stackable washer dryer. Dryer buzzer is

I just did this; Zard's solution was not quite the same as mine. After removing the control panel (will drop and hang once you pull down on the two spring loaded posts), I located a part that looked like this:

There were two black leads hooked to it. I simply disconnected them and taped the tips with electrical tape.

Voila. Annoying buzzer is gone (detached).

You will need to get 230v to allow the dryer to work if your service panel has 230 you will need to get a 30 amp two pole breaker and run 3 wire #8 in size. Then get the socket and plug for the dryer. The 110 in the model number simply means made by whirlpool and is a pretty good machine but requires 230 volts to dry with heat.
