you need to have a modded ps2 to play pirated movies which are not official copies if you are using an original dvd copy then try keeping a weight say a small mobile charger or a small book on the ps2 if you are using the slim ps2
First, some long winded history and this may not be exactly the same problem you're having but I have an Oppo BDP-83 and I tried 2 different Predators blu-ray discs from Amazon.com, both of which would NOT play the actual movie. I could play the previews and get to the main menu but could not play the movie itself or jump to a scene select, etc. Any option that was selected would completely freeze the player at a black screen and I'd have to hold the power button down for a few seconds to reboot it. I tried it on the most recent Oppo firmware dated May 5th, 2010 AND the beta firmware date August 24th, 2010. Nothing. I read that some people had luck turning BD-Live OFF or disconnecting the player itself entirely from the network or by just waiting it out 5-10 minutes to see if it'd start....nothing worked. I disconnected the ethernet cable, let it stay at that frozen black screen for 30 minutes while I made dinner, fed the kid, etc. The thing that seemed to finally get the 2nd disc to play (1st disc I returned for an exchange via Amazon) was to select the BD Live Extras at the main menu, and download all of the extra previews, etc. After that, the movie played just fine. It could have been a fluke, but hell, I tried everything else and this was the only thing that didn't completely freeze up my player.
Your PS3 may be dirty and may need a can of air to blow out any dust or dirt clogs it may have built up. Gameplay is totally different than watching a movie. During a game, the processors are doing alot of work computing and calculating may things at the same time. This will cause heat. During video play the ps3 does not have to do that much work... it just uses it's bluray "dvd" ability and will not cause it to overheat. Once you blow it out, it should not overheat and stall anymore. If the unit is completely clean and no dirt is in it then you will have to send it in to Sony and they will repair it for a flat fee of about $90. Hope this helps.
Hi my name is Juan let's do home homework here ok try to play a game and let the system to freeze then push the PS logo on the control if you can be able to leave the game and return to the main menu this means is your laser lens that have stopped working you can also play a regular dvd movie and see what happen or surf the internet I am telling you this because we want to see if the system is the one that is freezen or is your bluray laser lens if you surf the internet and it freezes also then is your playstation 3 but if is only with games movies etc then is your laser what is causing this problem thanks and let me know what you have found
This may be because DVD movies have a reigion code on the disk and on a pirated disk this code may be removed. When the ps2 fails to find the code, it aborts playing the disk. I believe the regional lockout for games (which i assume you have disabled) is a different system to DVD lockouts.
Put a DVD into the PS2 and let it try to load. When the screen says chenge to level four select yes. When the entry window pops up,press the select button on the controller. It should say reset password or something like that. Put in 7444. Then when you rename the password put in 0000. You will have to do it again 0000. Once the movie starts, not the menu screen, but the movie actually playing, Press Select button again. The PS2 DVD menu should appear. Cursor over to the toolbox or Setup, and press X. Cursor over to the third icon, and press X. Arrow down to PArental and press X. Change the Parental lockout to OFF.
I am not completely sure about the procedure here but the numbers are correct.
Put in a DVD, and press select button to go to PS2 DVD menu. highlight setup menu. Press X. go to settings I think, and paretal control is there. Use password 7444. Usually everyone sets the password to 0000. Then when you go into the parental settings, turn the level value to OFF
pirating is illeagal and i cannot condone it but if you want to bother with it get a mod chip to play back ups checkout easybuy2000.com they sell mod chips for various consoles, or at least they did when the original xbox was still new, anyway if you want to play movies early generation ps2 may be able to play dvd backups, must be the entire disk with the protection copied (an exact imageg of the original dvd) also some usb addons for this are now available, if you have a psx(pre psone playstations with the expansion slot on the rear preferably) can very easily be done, all you need is one real psx game and either a non cdx (mem card and cd style) games shark or pro action replay (i prefer the par) using a lego peice or an m3 screw(standard pc case screw) and a cd case prop the lid open and use the case to hold it half closed, the disk will spin as if it where closed and can be swaped with the backup disk once the system is booted to the gs or par screen, at this point the disk will stop spinning after verifing the disk is legit, then you swap with the back up and start the game with or without cheats, some versions of the psx will double check if it does its not an early enough version., sorry about the length if you need more details email me, email@example.com
