are you using the battery that came from the box KODAK Li-Ion Rechargeable Digital Camera Battery KLIC-7001 first charged the battery for 4hrs and make sure when you charge it theres a light indicator in the camera., you may also try to turn On the camera while its charging in a AC adaptor., If its did the same thing call kodak toll free 1 800 235 6325. it means the camera gear lens is already defective thats why your camera will not stay On
this sounds like a systemic problem. (responding to 3 different inquiries with similar complaints) the light stays on when writing to mem to warn/prevent you from losing images which happens from premature power down actions. in this case you have signs that the mother boards are bad. call canon for advice, but i am sure they will instruct you to ship them for service. aside from damaging your camera, it does not sound like a user interaction issue. good luck mark
