Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

1 Answer

Google Desktop will not start.

I have re-installed Google Desk Top after the previous installation stopped working after carrying out a system clean with CCleaner. Nothing happens when I click on the shortcut and I cannot open the programme. How can I correct this ? Is there a file missing or have I deleted something by mistake ? All other programmes are working. I have re-installed Google Desktop search after the previous installation stopped working.Well ,now again it doesn't react. Everything is new installed ,I deleted old files ,cleaned up registry but its the same thing as before. On double click nothing happens ,it doesn't start with windows as it should. I'm stuck now!

ok then it seems that either your system infected by virus. or setup file is infected. use fresh copy of setup of Google desktop software.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I recently unitstalled google chrome and then reinstalled. Now what I get is a malware (binkiland) attached to google chrome every time I try to download it. How do I get a clean version of google chrone?

Get Google Chrome from this link:
https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html

Unless your PC is infected with something that corrupts the downloaded file, this is direct from Google and should install cleanly.

Warning: If your previous installation of Google Chrome was infected it would be wise to not only uninstall it, but also delete the Google directory under C:\"Program Files (x86)" AND the Google folders for every user on your PC in the C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Local folder. (You will have to turn on the view hidden files option to see the AppData folders under the users).

Once you have deleted all of those Google folders, you will get a clean install from the downloaded installer in the link above.

It is stuck on pc health status gadget moveing slow never finshs

Same here. But you don't need to install the Health Gadget. Go back into the install option, and do not choose 'typical', but choose the alternative (the parts you want to install). It'll give you to option to unclick the 'Health gadget' option. Unclick it, and the System Mechanic will install. (The health gadget is just a visible reminder on your desktop, and is not needed)

How to set up my desktop in a clean way?

The Desktop Cleanup Wizard is a component included with Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. It aims to reduce the clutter in a user's desktop environment by moving unused shortcuts to a separate directory called "Unused Desktop Shortcuts"

If you are not using XP .
1.Right click on desk top.
2.Go to sort by and choose an option
3.Right click on desk top
4.Choose New
5.Select Folder. This will create a folder on your desk top which you can drag and drop all desk top icons that you do not need regularly.
6.Create another folder and use it for down loads. This will keep it clean.

Trying to change my password, after that i cannot open it anymore

Boot your Mac from the CD/DVD (as if you were to install the system). Once in the desktop, select on the Menu > "Reset my password". That's it. Now you can set a new password or leave it blank.

Google Desktop will not start.

The shortcut on your desktop maybe the old one you said that you reinstalled the Google Desktop BUT you did not uninstall the first one. The Icon on your desktop still refers to the old installation when somewhere while you use that programm CCleaner it wipe Google Desktop. Delete the icon on your desktop and reinstall allow google to place the icon again on the desktop. I can tell you another way to go and get it but that takes another explanation.
