Need to restore with original disk for ACER 9410

I took an update which froze me out of Windows (Vista). I retrieved the files and reloaded windows using another Acer computer's boot disk. Now some of the applications are different from original. For example, I had WordPad which I could copy and paste pictures into. Now I have Microsoft Word with limited features and no Word Pad. Can I get back to original specifications?

My bootmanager is gone how to fix I did try windows xp acer recovery disk but nothing help. where can I find the boot manager file many thanks

Did you see a blue screen at all? If so, your HD is bad. No disk will fix it. you would need to reload everything on a new Hard drive. Boot managers are not a simple program that is loaded. They are 'built' by windows and are not replaceable in the way you are asking.

The way to fix this is to replace the hard drive and reload the computer with the original disks.

To be blunt, I would replace the computer unless there is a reason you need XP. XP is not safe to use online anymore.

When your computer is first booting, try tapping F12 to get to the boot menu. Once there, boot from the Vista installation disk- you may need to fully reinstall windows from that point. Try doing a repair first- if that does not work, do a full reinstall.

Computer froze shut down by power button now will not start os lets me choose repair or start normally both tried just goes black screen then reboots over and over

Turn the computer on.
Press F8, repeatedly, until you see a start-up menu.
Choose "safe mode".

If it boots, open All Programs.
Open Accessories.
Open System Tools.
Open System Restore.
Select a date/time when your computer _was_ working correct, and go "back" to that checkpoint.

If that does not help, and it boots, use the Windows XP/Vista/7 "File and Settings Transfer Wizard" to create one file, holding all your E-mail, contacts, and music files.
Copy that file to an external disk-drive.

Then, take a deep breath, and reinstall Windows.
Reinstall MS Office.
Reinstall your anti-virus software.
Reinstall Adobe Reader.
Reinstall your other program.
Finally, reload from the external disk-drive.

Will the computer start and boot up at all? You said you did a restore.

If it will, you may be able to insert your backup disk after the computer boots and use Windows Explorer to view and copy your files back on to the hard drive.

If the computer won't boot, you can reinstall Windows and after it boots then try to use Windows Explorer to see if you can retrieve the files.

Desktop will not load, cannot get to taskbar, start menu, icons

You would have to use an upgrade verison of WME and what is sad Microsoft does not offer this in an upgrade. In order to retain your data you may have to upgrade to Vista Home premium, I know I have said a bad thing, but your choices are slim to none. If you were able to retrieve WME disk and reload you would have to go through an extensive process and need Administrator level of access, if not Windows will want to wipe your machine and restart anew. Here's some links for info. I hope this was helpful.
