Question about Craftsman 42 in. Deck 19.5hp Lawn Tractor
On the exhaust valve there is a compression release, when it is not running it rotates around and holds the exhaust valve open just a little bit and after it starts centrifugal force of the cam shaft spinning causes this compression release to rotate and the exhaust valve is allowed to shut all the way. Knowing that we must properly set this valve because if it is to loose the compression release will not work and your starter and stock battery just don't have enough power to do it and if it is to tight it will not shut all the way and will be lacking power and burn out the valve face with time.

What method are you jump starting? Are you putting clamps from jump battery on the posts of the battery or grounding the jump battery and then touching the + cable to the starter terminal?
