Have you tried pressing space bar (maybe its in hibernation mode) ?

or try holding power button for a few seconds (10) then turn it back on.

as a last resort you could try take the battery out, disconnect it from the power adapter, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then place the battery back in and the power adapter and try powering it on?

I'am afraid you have a motherboard problem, HP is well known for this, the only option is replace the main board, there is no other way.

do a system restore back to the point when it last worked.

Try removing the laptop from A/C power, remove the battery, then hold the on/off switch in the ON position for ten seconds. Replace the battery, plug in to A/C and try booting. Laptop may be frozen in 'sleep' state; I have seen this problem with other Toshiba's before.

I don't have that model, but the layout is probably similar to mine. On the left hand side near the screen there is a blue socket where you can plug a VGA monitor, or, on the same side (on mine) there is a round socket where you can plug in an S-video cable and connect that to some types of TV set. Plug in any external monitor before attempting to start the computer, and the computer should pick up the new device. If that doesn't work, you may need to press the Fn key + F5.

If your computer isn't like this, you will need to check the handbook which should have come with it.

I was wondering whether it was a total failure to power up, or a display problem. The commonest display issues have to do with the back light or the inverter, and they are more likely to fail slowly over several hours rather than fail catastrophically, but that can happen.

But if the hard drive doesn't seem to be spinning up either, it does suggest that something else is to blame, and probably not the drive itself, otherwise the computer would try to boot and then fail with a message that no operating system could be found.

So, what you are telling me doesn't sound really wonderful. If you can't even get the Toshiba splash screen on an external monitor when you try it, my suspicion would be that your laptop is, to use a technical term, kaput.

But it could still be recoverable; however you would need to take it to a laptop repairer for a thorough physical.

go to start, control panel, wireless connections. and turn it on.

open the back case and put away your cos cell for reset bios .
after 15 minutes refix cmos cell to its position .then try.

I would try to hook up a monitor to it to determine if it is just the screen or worse. There is a toggle button you usually have to use to activate the external connection. I'm not sure what the toshiba uses. i have an HP & it uses a combo of the blue key / F4 to toggle the screens used. Also sometimes rotating the screen at different angles will temporarily help if it is a faulty connection.
