My lap top key board is not working

The key board either does not work, give letters you do not type and usually 2 at a time, or when trying to search inserts random characters automatically

Remove keyboard from the laptop. use heatgun to give it medium temprature from the back side. but this should be done very gently as it can damage the keyboard also. after that jus make it cool and enjoy it. it will remove 85% of fault from keyboard

SOURCE: I use a lap top, IBM ThinkPad, that has been in my docking station for a long time and it works fine in the docking station with the external key board and screen. I recently took it out of the dock

NUMBER LOCK
You have press the NumLk key (number lock) and this changes the right hand keys to a number pad.
Press the NumLk key (also doubles as the ScrLk key to toggle the Number lock). it is near the F12 function key. When the NumLk has been enabled a LED light is turn on to indicate this function has been selected. Press the NumLk key again to turn off the Number Lock.

Keyboard typing wrong letters

Your keyboard is not "typing wrong letters", you have a stuck key. The key is shorting out and is stuck on the letter W. Usually caused by dirt/dust/spills on the keyboard jamming the key so it can't release. Things to try in order of difficulty:
>Vacuum cleaner with brush attachment, vac the keys.
>Paper towel moistened lightly rubbed on the 4 sides of the W key; use a knife blade to gently work down into the edges.
>Soft toothbrush, lightly dampened with water, work the bristles all
all around the edges of the W key. After that do step 2 with a dry
dry paper towel.
>Take the keyboard apart; usually several tiny screws on the rear/sides. CAREFULLY remove the top. You may have to turn the board over, lie on its face to do this. Do not knock the letters out of order or you will have a headache placing them back in proper order! Clear whatever it blocking the W and replace the cover.
If none of the above works the keyboard has failed, needs to be replaced.

My laptop types 'P' automatically and I have to stop it by pressing backspace, but when I press 'P' manually it does not work.

There are two ways to solve this first I would obtain a can of compressed air, and clean any dust or debris that might be lodged in your keys. if that don't work then its best to replace your key board, Lap top key boards run from 5 to 10 Dollars and are very simple to replace. just search for your model on YouTube for replacement instructions it is usually just 2 small screws and little common sense. :)

My daughters key board on her lap top has started to act crazy you can't backspace and you can not type double letters you have to wait a second for it to keep typing any suggestions

First, try to connect an external USB keyboard & see if it will work fine.
If the external USB keyboard works fine, then you will need to replace your laptop's keyboard, as there is almost nothing that can be done to fix a defective laptop keyboard.

Got liquid spill on lap top keyboard, lap top works fine, but some keys do not work, any suggestions!!!

Hi there,

Almost every laptop keyboard ever produced (or so it would seem) is available new as a part on eBay. It's where I buy all mine. SInce you don't mention the model of laptop here, just got to ebay's main page and in the search box type your laptop model followed by the word "keyboard". Most of them there are around $10 while others range up to $25.

Keyboards are usually just about the quickest and easiest part to replace on a laptop.

Best Regards,

Marcus

The Fn botton on my vio lap top won't work

The Fn button is like a 'shift' key. Just as you would press <Shift> and a letter to get a capitalized letter, you press <Fn> and a function key at the same time ( <Fn><F1> or <Fn><F2> and so on) to use the secondary function for that key. For example, on one of my laptops, the <F2> key has an icon for 'wireless' (looks like an antenna). If I simply press <F2>, I will activate the function for <F2>, but if I press <Fn> and <F2> at the same time, I will turn on my wiress adapter.

<Fn> all by itself does nothing.

Hope this helps.

How to make logitech keyboard & mouse work??

Hi there: I was also facing the same problem. But when you see on back of the keyboard the instructions are there. or follow these steps.
1. insert new batteries both in keyboard and mouse. 2. decide what device you want to connect 1st (Lets connect Keyboard first) 3. Pres and Hold the connect button for both key board and receiver for about 5 secs. 4. don't press any key on key board till 10 secs (During this time it trying to connect with receiver) 5. Check the key board connectivity if it works then take it away or put it behind some barrier so that when you are connecting the mouse it don't interrupt. 6. now for the mouse do the same process as you have connected the keyboard.(step 3 & 4) 7. now check both key board and mouse they will work fine. Thanks
