When you spoke to the Maggee tech, did he have you look in your registry? Because this is where the program my still be embedded.

You my need to edit it, but you should have someone that is familiar with doing this.

Open task manager and check the mail frontier in application/process and service tab, and stop it then it will allow you to install mcafee.

I can't access McFee protection on my Dell pc. The McAfee icon has disappeared from desk top and the link at the bottom right hand side of screen doesn't work.

Open your start menu and type "McAfee" in the search screen.

The error 'Unable to reach McAfee server' usually indicates a problem with the internet connection. Check if your internet connection works properly, if so: also check that McAfee has permission to go through any firewall that might be installed on your computer.

Alternatively, try to reinstall McAfee by downloading the setup application from the website.

Can't download mcafee

- the reason why you can't download and install Mcafee is because most likely you have a previous installation of it.

- If that's the case, do this steps:

Step 1 - Uninstall your McAfee consumer products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel Windows 2000/XP
  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select the McAfee SecurityCenter product.
  4. Click Remove and follow the steps provided.
Windows Vista
  1. Click Start, Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go.
  2. Double-click Programs and Features.
  3. Select the McAfee SecurityCenter product.
  4. Click Uninstall and follow the steps provided.
Step 2 - Download and run MCPR.exe
  1. Download the removal tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
  2. Click Save and save the file to a folder on your computer.
  3. Navigate to the folder where the file was saved.
  4. Make sure all McAfee windows are closed.
  5. Double-click MCPR.exe to run the removal tool.

NOTE: Windows Vista users must right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator.
  6. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful.
Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is restarted.

I am trying to download McAfee Antivirus and keep getting error 76556 that does not permit installation I already removed all the other Antivirus/Firewall from the computer.... But still when i try to...

Was the other antivirus/firewall program you had installed on your PC McAfee or another brand? If there was another brand (example: Symantec) you will need to run a full uninstall utility (accessable from most software vendors websites). If the other antivirus/firewall was McAfee, run the full uninstall utility which is called the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool which you can obtain at the link I provided below; again this is for McAfee products only. If the last software you had on your PC was McAfee, then run this tool, this will do a complete job of removing old remnants that Add/Remove does not. It will then reboot your PC, and after which you should be able to reinstall your new McAfee software.

If it wasn't McAfee, you will have to check the company's site for a removal tool as Symantec (as an example) has one too.
