the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

The "beachball" and sounds do typically mean that your drive is failing. Your plan to back up is the right choice.

You should be able to replace the hard drive yourself. Opening the case and replacing the drive is exceedingly simple on the mac pro.

There is a spinning wheel on the screen and I can't shutdown or dO anything

the spinning wheel indicates that the computer is trying to either read or write to the hard drive.
It might be an indication that your hard drive is starting to fail. Backup if you can.
Try booting from the Mac OS install disc. insert the disc and restart while holding down the "D" key on the keyboard. If everything boots OK and doesn't act "weird", your hard drive is failing.

Start with the left shift held down, this does some system housework and gives "safe boot" see if that helps, then look in fixya tips for how to repair the hard drive and permissions.

I have an Macbook Pro, and I get a spinning pinwheel of color that stops everything from time to time or I get my safari totally shutting down. What up?

That little pinwheel is the Mac "loading" wheel. Kind of like the hourglass in windows. I found a link on how to reduce the loading wheel in Safari at this website. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10328447-263.html

Happy computing.
