Hi cmtrlink thanks for your prompt answer. I actually solved problem a different way after all.I used a program called Superscan 4.0 and it listed everything on my network. As I already knew my IP for the router and my machine the other one listed could only be my WDMBE. Hope this helps others too.

Zyxel220 can't be reaced via webbrowser

Here few things that you could try:

1. Try to check if there is a proxy server configured in your web browser. Tools>>Internet Options>>Connections>>LAN settings..>>make sure nothing is checked.

2. Disable anti-virus and firewall temporarily and check if you can access it using your web browser.

3. Possible that the IP address of your zyxel has a conflict with another device in the network (i.e. router, switch, etc)

4. You could also use firefox as an alternate browser.

Hope this helps.

I have a home wireless network and am using a My Book World Edition external drive. Three of my laptops can access the My Book but one keeps returning the error network path could not be found. Any ideas...

If all other pc's are able to connect and the one odd pc will not, your problem may be the odd pc's ip configuration. Check the ip addressing in the control panel to correct this. I would recommend making the settings the same as the one from a pc that connects to the My Book connection.

Good Luck.

I can't access my drive through mionet. My son accidently unplugged the world book and I can't access it ever since. Should I reinstall the mionet. I can't remember if there were any installation CD that...

Once the My Book World has been plugged back in, it will request a new IP from the Router. If the drive was unplugged accidentally, the ethernet cable may have also been knocked loose: make sure all cables are attached to the Router and the My Book World.

If your drive is still not appearing properly in MioNet, you can do a Hardware and Software reset on the drive. It will not affect your data, and it will allow you to re-attach the drive to your MioNet account. You do not need to reinstall MioNet to do this.\

1. Turn off My Book World
2. Identify the reset button on the back of My Book World
3. Depress the reset button while restarting My Book World
4. Keep the reset button depressed for about 10 seconds after you see blue lights on My Book World

You should now be able to sign in to the Shared Storage Manager as admin/123456.

5. Please open your web browsers and enter (without the quotes) "http://<IP address of My Book World>" or "http://mybookworld" in the address bar. The Shared Storage Manager web page will appear.
6. Once you have accessed the Western Digital Shared Storage Manager please select "General Setup" then choose "WD Anywhere Access settings." Use the default username of "admin" and default password of "123456" (without the quotes). On the following page you will have three buttons to select, please click on the "Reset" button. This will return the MioNet software on My Book World to default settings.
7. From within the MioNet Client, go to File > Remove Computer. Locate the My Book World (WDStorage, MyBookWorld, or whatever you named it) and remove it.
8. If you do not see a new window from MioNet informing you that you have a storage device available, "Scan for Cameras and New Devices…" to detect the unit.

Problems with Western Digital My Book World Edition

I have the same drive. It works great with windows XP but with Windows vista has difficulty seeing this type of drive and keeping the connection once it is established. Take it back if you have windows vista and then search for which 1TB drives work well with windows vista. It really has problems with windows vista 64bit. I was able to finally see the drive when I was using photoshop file/browse/network... then I dragged the shortcut Icon to my desktop and access the drive that way from that point on. Mine stopped completely tonight... I think the power cord went bad or something.

Can't access My World Book 1TB through my browser.

Hi Vonnossa

I had exactly the same issue after removing the MioNet software. My device is connected to a router that assigns IP addresses (DHCP) and can easily be accessed using explorer and by mapping the drive so that its available on startup.

The solution I found is as follows.

The unit has a default reset button that will reset the unit User Name to "admin" and the Password to "123456" Without the quotation marks.

The button is recessed in a small hole between the power connector and the network connector on the back of the unit. Its much the same as the small hole on a CD/DVD Drive used to remove discs from a PC that is switched off. You will need a paper clip or similar to reset the device.

Step 1. Switch off the unit and remove all leads.
Step 2. Insert the paper clip into the small hole mentioned above and press (not to hard though)
Step 3. With the clip still in the hole, connect the power lead and switch the unit on.
Step 4. Wait until the circular power button lights up ( this can take anything up to a couple of minutes). Once lit count to 10 and remove the clip.
Step 5. Re-connect the network cable and return to your PC.
Step 6. In your browser type in "wdstorage" No quotation marks.
Step 7. This will open the shared storage manager page. select your option and when it prompts for username enter "admin" and for password enter 123456

Once done you can change usernames and passwords as required.

Good luck
Dave

Mionet application doesn't show files in subfolders of shared folders

I believe you have a choice of using either the web interface or the desktop version of Mionet when you are on the same network (LAN), and as you mentioned both of you have no problem when you are on the same network as the NAS drive (MBWE) is.

When you are out of the local network where your NAS drive is, the only choice you would have is the web interface of Mionet. Eventhough you may have installed the desktop version of Mionet tool on a remote PC, I don't think you can access through that desktop tool. Sorry !!!
