  • SPIRITp Feb 23, 2009

In my device manager, i can see portable devices... and creative vision M inside... when i click on the right button it says that the peripheral device works well (there is any "?" in a yellow circle). On my computer I've found back the icon of the creative zen vision... what must i do now ? thank you

    For information
On the screen of my creative i have :
    Recovery mode
    Creative Zen vision M
    v0.0.16
    Clean up
    Format all
    Reload Firmware
    Reboot

    And in grey rectangle "Docked"

To finish when I click on the right button in device manager : when I want to upgrade the driver it puts me a classic screen with insert installation CD or choose...for experimented persons ; and for the function go back to previous driver it says there is no driver... wish you open the repair utility... but with that I'll can't reinstall the firmware.

Hi there.
The yellow "?" in device manager indicates that the drivers for the Zen are not installed properly.
Get the software cd provided by creative labs and reinstall the software for the Zen, also keep an eye on the "?" in device manager, if it disappears after reinstalling the software the Zen should work on the PC, don't forget to restart your PC after you have reinstalled the software so changes are made in the registry.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!!

    Hi again
Just to add try a reset: Insert a paperclip into the reset hole at the bottom of the Vision, hold in for 30 seconds and try again.
    There's
also a hidden 'Recovery' menu that lets you defragment or format the hard
drive, reboot, or reload the firmware. This is for advanced use only,
and you're advised not to play around with these options unless you
    know what you're doing.

To access this, hold the power switch over to the left, and while
holding it, poke a paperclip into the reset hole and then remove the
paperclip - when the Creative logo appears, release the power switch. A
    menu will appear.

    Good luck

You could probably save yourself a lot of grief if you just reinstall the zen on another computer and then do the upgrades there.

The simple solutions are the best ones to try first!

HI,

Solution: Click Start, (Settings), Control Panel, System, Hardware, and then Device Manager.
The MTP player should be listed under Windows Portable Devices as shown in the photo above.
Right click on the player listing and delete it. Reboot the PC with the Zen player still connected to your PC. Windows will find the MTP device which is your Zen player automatically. You will hear the 'pop' sound and everything will be fixed.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

I am inclined to think that you have tried most if not all of the tricks to address your concern even before posting here. A few other ideas yu may want to consider:

  • disable Power Management in the Properties window of USB Root Hub (Device Manager);
  • temporarily disable antivirus and firewall when performing the firmware update;
  • patch/edit your registry based on this Microsoft info here.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Hey,

Download the correct firmware for your 30GB creative from this page
http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=213&subCatID=214&prodID=16002&prodName=ZEN%20Vision:M%2030GB&subCatName=ZEN&CatName=MP3+Players
plug in the mp3 player and make sure its detected in device manager.

To check that, right click on my computer and select manage, then on the left side select Device manager and make sure the device is listed on the right side and its working ok. eg no yellow marks or ! ? marks.

Run the firmware update.

Also try it on another computer if your still having the same problem.

Also get the recovery tool and give that a try, its on the same page, the red box.

Let me know how that goes.

Thanks,
Ekse

If you have any occurances of a libusb-win32 exe process running, it will block you're Vision:M from being recognized by the computer. You can do a couple of things to solve the problem. Either go into task manager and stop the process, or go into control pannel (classic view)> administrative tools> services and stop the process from there. In some cases (like mine) you may have installed the exe as a program (for example if you downloaded the driver to use a PS3 controller with you're pc) for these cases, they either come with an uninstaller that is accessible in the Program files folder, or you can simply delete the entire folder that the exe is in. That last one did it for me...hope it helps all of you.

C cover art does not transfer to my zen vision m, only the music tracks transfer

A few possibilities. Go to http://193.95.171.83/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=224,E=0000000000373151655,K=1742,Sxi=15,Case=obj(8179),Kb=ww_english_add,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com/

for more details

Creative ZEN players do not currently support album art from Rhapsody version 4.0.
Album art is either embedded in a track, or exists as a thumbnail image in a separate file, allowing one album art file to be associated with an album. Currently, Rhapsody only supports album art embedded in the track. Future versions of Rhapsody are expected to support thumbnail versions.
Creative Media Explorer or Windows Media Player 10 or 11 can be used to transfer music purchased from Rhapsody to a player with album art included.

Album Art is supported by Creative ZEN, Creative ZEN V Plus, ZEN V, Vision:M and ZEN Vision players.
The ZEN Vision (PF1150) requires a firmware update for Album Art. You can download the updated firmware:
If you experience any difficulty transferring Album Art with Windows Media Player 10 or 11, to ZEN Vision:M, delete WMPInfo.xml (see below), and then transfer the tracks again.
