Re: change the battery
The battery is located on the main board. Generally these M/B's have a 3.6 Nic rechargable battery. They have 3 wires and are connected by connector to the M/B. To remove the cabinet is no easy trick. Remove the outside cabinet screws and then inside the printer compartment there is a long screw to remove. Once this is done you must pull up on the release clip on the side. they are plastic and not easy to actuate. Then carefully hold it to the side and if you think you are good enough you can you can unplug the battery and remove the wires and solder them to the new battery or purchase one from a Casio dealer. The hard part is to reverse the process. Its very easy to touch a part that is powered and kill the machine forever. This is best for a dealer to do.

Hi. This is normal when you haven't changed the batteries on time. It no longer has the power to backup the memory when you get a power cut. You can change the batteries now and try to recover the memory if it is still there. MAKE SURE you leave the POWER ON when changing the batteries as there may be enough in them to hold memory but not if you turn power off. Once you have new batteries in it and the FFFFFFFFFF is on display, turn key to Program or PGM mode and press subtotal. It should print out. Turn key back to REG mode and try it
Are they the correct kind, some devices are fussy about their batteries. Check the type is as specified. Remember years ago I put 4 new and fully charged ni-cads into a flash gun and it would not work because the typical charge of those was 1.3v instesd of 1.5.
This is a common problem.
Firstly, try printing a daily report. If it still does not open, it probably has the factory fault. Sharp incorrectly dressed the solenoid wires in the drawer and they are cut by the drawer tray as it closes. There was a large warranty recall. Have it checked by a technician.
battery is located inside the machine. You need to open the plastic case to see it. 7 screws holding the case together, but be careful not to break the case, multiple sensors inside the unit, don't loose it. If you still needs help, call us at (775) 358-2922 ask for Randy. http://freshpoint.org
Hi. You do not need an RS232 cable to program the machine. It can be programmed via the keyboard. Firstly, it would pay to have the battery checked. They use an internal rechargeable battery which should be replaced every four years. If it hasn't been changed, it can leak on the circuit board and damage the machine. If the battery is not holding a charge, it will also lose your programming when the power is turned off. This is part of normal dealer servicing but you can't be sure that the previous owner has had it serviced and checked.
You will need to program department names. This is listed under "programming for departments - alphanumeric characters" in the instruction manual. To change the shop name on the receipt, see the section called "Programming various functions - programming of print messages".Once you have given those two a try, I can point you to any other parts of the manual you will need. Just let me know what else you want to set up.
