I have a Canon Pixma iP4200 printer which is causing my Acer Aspire T310-3970 PC to reboot when I turn the printer on. It keeps on rebooting until I switch the printer off. Any ideas?

If the computer does reebot immediately when you turn printer on, that is not aa software or setting problem , that is an hardware fault, and there is also risk to damage your computer.

Possible cause for the fault.

1 Faulty USB port on computer.

2 Defective USB cable.

3 Faulty control board on printer.

Things you can do:

Test a different USB cable.

Test the printer on a different USB port on computer.

If that does not work, the printer is sending a wrong voltage or data signal through the USB cable, tha printer can even work on a different computer, but there is always the risk to damage the computer.

I am running Windows Vista and have a Canon Pixma i1600. We installed an additional printer on this machine and then had to delete it. Now my Pixma will not print anything until I reboot it. How do I fix...

  1. Open Printers by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clickingHardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.

  2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, and then click Delete.

If you can't delete the printer, right-click it again, click Run as administrator, and then click Delete. 18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. I would reboot.

    4. when you log back in Go to the Canon Driver Page: Click here then save the driver to your desktop. Re-add the printer, if it asks for the driver point it to the one you saved on your desktop

Error 5110 of ip4200 ?

Do you use a long USB cable or use a USB hub to extend the length of the connection? It seems to be a problem associated with communicating with the computer. Are there any other USB devices on the same USB bus? Try to make a short connection and shut the printer off. Reboot the computer then power the printer back on. This may reset it and bring it back to work.

I have a pixma ip4200 canon printer

Theres a large lid directly below where the paper goes in and above where it comes out. You can see that is a different scetion from the rest of the printer. If you still cant find it, its where the pixma ip4200 logo is and just above the bigger canon logo on the front. Simply open it and wait until the cartridges move along into view, the one(s) that need changing will flash, push in the small tab on the cartridge and lift out. Hope this helps.

Ip4200 - printing issues!

Hi, Perhaps you can try: remove the USB connection of the printer; uninstall and remove all drivers of the Canon IP4200; reboot your PC; plug in your usb to the PC from the printer; power on your printer; let windows auto detect "New Hardware found"; let windows auto install drivers; test print. If after plugging in your usb and powering your printer Windows did not auto detect "New Hardware found", it's possible that your printer's usb cable is defective. If Windows auto detected the Canon IP4200 and auto installed all the necessary drivers but failed in the test print, repeat above steps but instead of auto install, use the original CD driver and not the new drivers (Let me choose which drivers I want". RESET - User manual is available from the Canon site. There are 2 versions, 1 is a Quick Start Guide in pdf and the other is a User's Manual (On-Screen). Both does not say anything about reset, however you may want to google "fix your own printer" and variations of resetting all sorts of printers are available. Some works, others are ... well you can always give it a try. Or in the On-Screen Manual, you can also try the Troubleshooting/Printing Does Not Start. Another thing that you can try is installing the printer in another PC using the old CD drivers and see if it works. If it does, then it is a driver issue with the new PC. If it does not, you're back to reset . Hope this be of some help to you. Good luck and kind regards.
