I own the Toshiba CN32G90 which only has varible audio outputs. There is a switch in the back of the TV to turn off the internal speakers (the output still remains variable). Thus, to run a home theater using the TV out, you would have to turn off the TV speakers. And to just watch the TV, you would have to flip the switch and turn on the TV speakers.
-   The audio on my 42" toshiba projection just stopped. How do I fix it?-   acefree

Hello,
I have Hitachi VMH720 Hi8 VCR with the edit remote control, which allows editing to external VCR. I am trying to find a SVHS VCR model, which will work with this remote control. I tried the Panasonic models, does not work (or does anybody know how to make it work). I suspect the same with the JVC models, since it does not work with their standard VHS models. It works with RCA VHS Models, so I am wondering if it will work with the 730 SVHS model (it very closely resembles the Panasonic). Does anybody have experience with such a combination?
Thanks,
MC

: I have started looking at Toshiba 32 to 36 inch sets because of : favorable comments in this newsgroup. I used to have a Sony 32 inch : XBR (bought in '91) but had so many repairs done to it that I ended up : selling it to the repair shop for junk parts. The XBR had 3 A/V : inputs, fixed and variable audio out, and 2 RF inputs. The first : Toshiba I looked at recently at Sears was a CF36G40. Nice 36" : picture. It had absolutely NO audio output jacks and only one A/V : input. On various Web sites I have checked specs for other Toshibas : in the 32 to 35/36 range and some of them claim a variable audio : output. None listed a fixed output until I got to the big R/P sets. : Does anyone know if the variable output is controlled only by the main : volume control of the TV or is there a separate control that I could : set the level and forget, and then adjust the audio from my home : theater system? I want to have independent control of the TV's own : speakers for casual listening to news, but be able to turn the TV's : sound off and control the sound on my home theater for movies etc. I : was able to do that with the Sony all from my remote control because I : had the fixed audio output connected to my home theater preamp. I : would appreciate any comments from Toshiba owners on how they manage : a home theater hookup if they use the variable audio out. Thanks. : -- : Ignorantia factorum excusat. - Stultus : All e-mail will be rejected.

I'm in the market for their CN36G97 -- As I understand, with the 'G' series, _only_ this model has both their 'Flat PERFECT' screen _and_ component video -- any other CN**G** model has _neither_ (please correct me if I'm wrong). None of the F (last year's models) had component, but many did have the 'Flat PERFECT' screen.
Their press release (check their website #) indicates that only the CN36G97 'direct view' has component video (they call it ColorStream) -- the other sets are all projection... hope this helps.

P.P.S. For pricing, you might want to check # or # for a comparison... I am as nobody locally carries this puppy -- and I've spoken to the regional distribution manager for Toshiba to confirm it <grin, ugh! Paul Gibson wrote in article <>...

I have the CF36G50. The variable audio output controls your amp. volume from the TV remote and you can turn the TV speakers off via the on-screen menu. There is no fixed output. When I feed the audio (with the remote volume set at the normal TV speaker only level) into my amp. I need to have the amp. volume set higher than usual to get the right sound level. I think the audio output is on the low side. My problem is that the universal TV remote does not control my GE VCR with codes listed in the Toshiba manual and nobody seems to know how to get this to work.
