Re: acer aspire 5310 : did not find any hard disk while...
Try with another fresh XP disc. Check your Bios if it shows hard disc. If bios show the HDD than its problem with your installation CD. If bios does not show HDD than check your HDD power and IDE cable. Replace IDE cable to diognose. If this does not solve, replace HDD.

If you have bought the laptop from any authorised ACER vendors, ie if you purchase the laptop with genuine OEM OS software, the should be a sticker licence with serial No. on it attached with your laptop. If you only purchased the hardware then you have to go back ACER or their authorised dealers to buy it.
If your laptop has a genuine OEM OS, they should given you a recovery CD or the recovery CD is embedded on the hard drive and you can burn a copy from the hard drive to a CD/DVD.
Hi, You will need to format the disk before trying to install the OS. Download and burn something like Hyrems or the Ultimate boot disk or GParted. and use the partition tools to re-partition the hard disk and format it.
please tell me during the blue screen is there any error message
you can also try boot to the safe mode and see if you can do it from there
also you can boot to the bios screen and check the setting for the cd rom and if needed set the system back to default settings and save and reboot and see what happens please keep me posted on this there is still more things that we can do ok
we have one type of method to solve this problem. but, not regularly.
if you have any other administrator account, you can log in to this and work with your account.
if you did not enter any administrator authentication(password), when the windows xp was installed, you can easily manage this. press CTRL + ALT + DEL keys simultaneously (two times) and type the username as "administrator". then enter without giving a password.
you can connect your hard disk with any other hard disk. boot through the other hard disk. then you will see your disk drives on the another disk. Try to delete the "SAM" file on your os (C:\windows\system32\). (Only on your hard disk). then reboot via your hard disk. now, you have no need to enter any username or password. just enter and go to the windows desktop
if it is not possible for you, just go for password recovery software
once you format your sytems means, you deleted whole OS so you need to reinstall fresh OS on it.
you supposed to have a recovery disk (it comes alongwith laptop while buying it)
but it depends on what basic OS was there when you bought your Laptop if there was XP then you got XP OS recovery disk if there was vista then you have Vista recovery disk.
if you don't have recovery disk then you need to get new Vista disk from market to install back vista in your laptop.
all laptops are supplied with a pre installed copy of windows and the product key will be on a genuine windows sticker on the back, unless you have no sticker, in which case you will need to purchase a copy, as nobody is likely to be able to help if you have no product key and no Vista disc
you can set the partitions in f-disk on the start up disk of windows 98, reset partitions to 32, format c: drive, take out disk and put in windows 98 cd. and restart computer. your done. windows 98 cd will install. your up and running. please give me a fixya rateing. Thanks farren
