Why it is hard for me to view a file from the net.... the note from my pc is: this copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validation.. what should i do? my unit is hp pavilion dv1000

You need to turn off Windows updates. For this go to the Control Panel--->Windows Updates and select Turn off windows updates. If the problem still there, take the backup of your documents and desktop in a mass storage or another drive of your computer and install a new copy of Windows and after finishing installation of Windows first turn off Windows Updates.

Hp pavilion entertainment sound and mute touchpad stopped working 10 minutes ago

In cases like this it is usually a program or a windows update (if you have updates checked to install automatically) that will cause these processes to stop. The easy way to reverse these problems is to go to the start button > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Open system restore and select restore to an earlier date and time. Look at the calendar that comes up and choose a day or two ago that is in bold, these are the restore dates and times. When you choose a bold date, you will see a list of restore points for that day. If a system check or a program was installed or deleted, a restore point will be made. Choose a system checkpoint and click next. Click OK and the system will reboot, when it reboots it will go back in time to the date you picked. Check your devices for function.

I have an hp pavilion laptop for no reason the wireless connection shut off today - now there shows no wireless network adapter - Tried this solution did not work Check you have Wireless service running....

Have you installed any new software? Or any program updates. To me it sounds as though your drivers have become corrupted. What you need to do is to go to the HP support website and re-download the correct drivers for your HP model and Operating System. When you update the drivers reboot and check to see it you're good to go...All the best

Update hp pavilion dv6000 with vista home premium

The easiest solution to this is to download a free program which applies a series of known fixes to repair Windows problems.  What this program will do in your case is repair and re-enable the Windows update side of things.  Please follow these steps:
  1. Download Dial-A-Fix from here: http://djlizard.net.nyud.net:8080/software/Dial-a-fix-v0.60.0.24.zip
  2. When it has downloaded, unzip it to a folder, and run the program.
  3. You will see a Window appear with lots of tick boxes.  Look for the section called WU/WUAU, which stands for "Windows Update/Windows Update: Automatic Update".
  4. Tick all the boxes in that section, and also the button called "Flush Software Distribution".
  5. THen click the big Go button down the bottom.
  6. After the processes have run, restart your computer.
To check if automatic updates are running, try this:
  1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties
  2. On the properties page go to the Automatic Updates tab.
  3. Select to never check for updates and click apply.
  4. Now click on the recommend setting of checking daily and automatically installing updates and click apply again.
  5. THis will cause the automatic update service to check for updates within the next 10 minutes, even if they have been scheduled for 3am.
  6. If automatic updates are running OK you will see a yellow shield appear down the bottom right of the screen saying that it is downloading updates (that is if updates are available for your copy of Windows).

I was having a similar issue. My volume button worked fine muting and unmuting the volume, the light just stayed red either way.

I went into Device Manager, then expanded the Sound, Video and Game Controller options, I rolled back the driver and it was an instant fix for me :)
