Open up the screen and check the whole board in front of the keyboard. If you find a small hole about 1×2 mm, the mic's there. you can also check in the sound settings if the mic's recognized, although if you're not sure it's there, you probably didn't install the drivers either ... I'll theck for it on the web.

it's gone...many users are victims of this stupid AUTO update from Microsoft....
the update makes changes to the IRQ of the soundcard chip and then the chip gets corrupted..... the best alternative is to buy a 1$ USB sound adaptor from Ebay.... I am also a victim of this and use the USB adaptor for the past 3 yrs....
if u mean to say u plugged in an external mic then internal's not workin, then its a simple sound setting game..
Look when u plug in an external mic, the internal one freezes...
Now go to Control Panel, Select Sounds & Audio Devices Now select Audio As u select Audio, U'll see a mic icon.. Expand the tab & select ur internal mic.. Now apply it & click ok.. Now check whether ur internal mic is working or not.. I guess it wil work..
If u like my post, please rate me up... I really need some good ratings... Thanks !!!
Go click the Start >> All Programs (or Programs) >> Accessories >> Entertainment >> Volume Control. Make sure the check box for Microphone is not muted. You can also increase the volume of your mike through that settings.
please check the settings from control panel->sounds and audio devices , there you can see voice-voice playback and voice recording.. , if not yet solved the problems, then you have to catch Service center
