Pressure is probably low cause the upper shelf is not cleaning or getting wet. Possible causes? Is it less expensive to just buy new? It is not older then 6 years?

Precor Error 05, Key Depressed at Power Up Probable Cause 1. A key is permanently depressed on the display.
2. An interface chip (IC) has failed in the upper PCA's keypad.
3. Liquid (cleaning solution or sweat) may be on the surface of a touch sensitive display.
Corrective Action
  1. Disconnect the keypad cable from the upper PCA. Reset power to the machine. If the Error 05 is eliminated, the keypad is the cause and should be replaced.
  2. Disconnect the keypad cable from the upper PCA. Reset power to the machine. If the Error 05 still appears, the upper PCA* is the cause and should be replaced. *Upper PCA's most commonly do not come with software. Remove the software (chip) from the existing upper PCA prior to replacement and install into the new upper PCA.

Ticking sound with accelerating and coolant running out everyday... any solution?? thanks.

Hi there:

A clicking or tapping noise that gets louder when you rev the engine is probably "tappet" or upper valvetrain noise caused by one of several things: low oil pressure, excessive valve lash, or worn or damaged parts.

First, check the engine dipstick to see if the oil level is low. If low, add oil to bring it back up to the full mark. Is the engine still noisy? Check your oil pressure. A low gauge reading (or oil warning light) would indicate a serious internal engine problem that is preventing normal oil pressure from reaching the upper valvetrain components. The cause might be a worn or damaged oil pump, a clogged oil pump pickup screen or a plugged up oil filter. Using too thick a viscosity of motor oil during cold weather can also slow down the flow of oil to the upper valvetrain, causing noise and wear.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

2000 GMC Jimmy 4.3L CSEFI won't crank. Fuel pressure is 50psi and should be between 55 to 60psi. Fuel filter 1yr old and fuel pump is probably stock & needs replaced but never had problem before...

Check your starter and check your connections to make sure they are clean and tight. The low fuel pressure won't cause a no crank. Too low could cause a no start but not a no crank. I've had starters be bad right out of the box. But if that starter motor isn't turning either the starter motor is bad or the solenoid attached or the wiring to it is at fault.

The unit freezes up

When a AC freezes up the most likely reason is that the evaporator coil (the one the cold air comes from) is 'dirty,' and/or the filter (that goes in front of the coil) is also 'dirty.'

Be sure to defrost the unit (if it isn't already).

If it presently has ice on it - just turn the unit to FAN ONLY and allow it to completely defrost (all ice gone).

Then: Be sure the filter is 'clean' and air can flow through it.

Be sure the coil is also clean.
Note: if the coil is dirty you can usually clean it fairly easy with a brush. Often (especially if the unit is freezing up) you can actually 'peel' a layer of 'wet matted stuff' from the coil by hand.

Another reason (less likely one) for the unit freezing up - is that the fan motor is going off (when it shouldn't) and the "lack of any air" over the coil is causing the unit to freeze up. You didn't say anything about the fan motor not running so it's not likely this is your problem - but be aware - that fan motors can get hot and will go off on internal overload - UNTIL - it cools down and then will come back on - so - if you're not watching - it's possible the motor could be "heating up and going off (for 30-90 minutes) and coming back on" without you realizing it, which would cause the unit to freeze up. Like I said - this is not likely though. If, however, it is doing something like this - the 'sure-cure' is to replace the motor. The cost to replace a blower motor will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 which should cause one to think about buying a new unit.

Another reason - also 'less likely,' is that the AC is 'low on refrigerant.'

If - after checking the filter/coil - you find that they are both clean and not causing the problem - and you've watched the fan motor and it's not going 'off and on,' then, you must consider that the unit is 'low on refrigerant,' which will require a Service Tech - who has the expertise and tools to repair the leak and re-charge it. If this is the problem you're probably looking at a repair bill of $75 -$125 - which when considering the price of 'new air conditioners' might cause you to think about buying a new one.

Hope this helps.

VCR not functioning

You probably used too much "wet" cleaner on the tape which caused the heads to get fouled. You could try running the wet cleaner through again but use a little less solution than recommended. Failing that you could have the mechanism out of alignment which will require professional help to repair.

No Remote

The remote have to work with new batteries. You can check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. In your case it could caused by a leaky diodes or a bad solder. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace Possible batteries problems: 1 batteries are not making contact properly inside the remote. Test by cleaning connections of the batteries and the remote. 2 battery charger is bad and isn't actually charging the battery. Test by charging on another charger if possible. 3 batteries are bad and are not actually recharging. test by using other batteries if possible. 4 other, unknown, internal remote problem. buy a new one.
