Question about Barbeques Galore Turbo Classic 3-Burner 207795 (LP) Grill

1 Answer

Motorhome with propane line made for bbq. Bbqs (2 different brands) will light, but wont cook. Flame height very minimally affected by HI-Med-Low setting, but both bbqs work fine on other propane sources, small bottles, other motorhomes, etc. Other propane appliance on subject motorhome works great, propane level not low-no spiders/webs in lines or bbqs. Flex propane line/fittings to bbq works fine on other motorhomes. No quick disconnect fittings in use. Motorhome supply line not clogged as other appliance-(stove in motorhome) works great. All connections checked repeatedly for obstruction, teflon tape reside, other obstructions-none found. Problem 1 1/2 yrs old.

Why does my burners not ignite into a blue flame

The color of the flame can be affected by a few different things. here are three of them: 1. If there is a food substance contacting the burner where the flame comes out, this will give the flame an orange tint. 2. If the propane is being burned at a very high rate, the flame can become invisible in daylight-like conditions. 3. If the propane is being burned at a very low rate it can also have an orange tint. Hope this is clarifying.

New Capt Cook 4 burner - even on Low it goes through 500 degrees in minutes, and there is hardly any difference in flame size between Hi and Low. what's wrong with it - why can't it stay at a low...

I suspect you have a propane grill or it at least the burner orifices are for propane. Because on Natural gas, what you described is virtually impossible. Is it safe to continue to use the grill? Certainly not. Get back in touch with BBQ's Galore dealer you purchased it from (as it's still under Warranty) and have them to either service it or replace it.

Hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Gas grill conversion

It's safe, but you need to keep in mind that propane burns hotter than natural gas, so you won't need to turn the burners up as high for the same heat. Here's an article that explains some of the differences (but doesn't really answer your question): http://bbq.about.com/od/gasgrills/a/aa030505a.htm

Bottom line -- it's safe if you don't leave it cranked up to high flame. Two-thirds flame on propane should give about the same heat as full burner on natural gas.

Of course, you could change the jets. That would compensate for all the differences between NG and propane, and you could run the grill on full high heat if you wanted to.
