Question about Epson Stylus Photo R220 InkJet Printer

Open Question

Ho do i unplug clogged nozzle heads

Epson R220, think nozzle heads are clogged (not on ink cartridges). ACTIONS TAKEN:
1. replaced magenta & light magenta ink cartridges several times & no ink flow from them. All other colors work though.
2. I have cleaned the heads many many times & still no magenta colors. Also, if i print anything, magenta colors drip onto the paper creating big spots & trail smears.
3. Used distilled water on the ink absorber pads to try & loosen dried ink (followed directions 2 the T) still did not work.
I think the nozzle head is clogged, can anybody tell me how to fix this problem? i just ordered a thing called magic inkjet flush but that won't be here until 2 weeks or so. I need to print things now, can somebody help? Thank you, Schroeder

SOURCE: r220 inkjet ------------- won't print

Hi,
No it,s not a glitch, the printer is informing you that these are also out of ink.
Go To START/PRINTERS/Right Click On EpsonR220/Printer Preferences. Tick The Box Draft Or Text.
Should Now Print In Monochrome ( Black and white )
Yoou probably have it set to photo or other colour option.

SOURCE: Epson C82 & C84 Printers will not laydown any ink!

Sorry but It uses Durabrite ink which tends to turn into hard gel if not printed at least once a week. Its less painful and expensive to just throw the printer out and buy a new one. I recommend the canon PIXMA ip3500. It lets you remove the printhead for cleaning unlike the Epson. If you want to try your luck at unclogging the printer heres a link to a unclogging kit but be warned that results are not guaranteed!

http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kits/Epson/K89

The C82 in addition to clogging also has a problem where the waste ink hose which is supposed to remove excess ink (so the printer dosent get clogged) gets disconnected and so the printer clogs even more. The C84 had this glitch fixed but alot of good that did!

Thanks for reading!

There could be something wrong with the connections going to the ink jet cartridge in the printer.

Someone should take a look at it.

SOURCE: Printer will not print

For all four cartridges to stop delivering ink simultaneously would seem to indicate that something significant has happened (e.g. main board problem). However, it is a long time since you posted this problem with no help forthcoming. If you still have the problem will you post a new comment here, otherwise let's call it solved!

Printer worked fine until yesterday changed ink cartridges now black wont work tried all options

Hello

well changing the cartridges will not effect anything to the printer but the duration taken for replacement will. As in epson if you leave the printer without cartridges will clog the head nozzles. Did you remove the cartridges and turned off the printer and left idle for sometime? if yes then follow the instructions below

1. Print nozzle check test print to know which nozzles are not working
2. Head cleaning from the printer software.
3. Perform step 1 again to see the difference after cleaning

IF NO

Then you have to take the print head out of the printer and clean the nozzles by using hot water in the Syringe and blowing the derbies out of the nozzles.

In these situation you can try these procedure.
Take a empty cis . pour it with amonia solution ( water40% + amonia60%). set th CIS and run head clean. 2/3 times. put off Cis. set original cartrige/ CIS with ink. Run head clean.1/2 times. print a nozzle cheak. I Think you may relive from your problem.
Thank you.

Printer acts like it is printing but it spits out blank paper. Ink supply shows up as good. What could it be?

If the printer has not been used in some time ink may have dried in the print head. Unfortunately Epson have a non-removable head, so it can not be cleaned without a kit available for purchase. If you have installed new cartridges make sure any air tags have been removed. these are usually on the top of compatible cartridges or on the bottom of Epson brand cartridges.
The kits are available online, Search for Epson head Cleaning Kits and you will find one.
I hope this helps

Hi, When printing photos, my photos have horizontal light coloured lines across them. When I print the nozzle check pattern all colours match the guide with the exception of the light magenta....

Epsons are notorious for this sort of problem, especially in used infrequently as ink residue dries on the print head; try using a cleaning cartridge, or swab around relevant print head with cotton bud and ethanol/isopropyl alcohol. Here are examples of cleaning carts, there are others http://www.internet-ink.co.uk/epson-cleaning-cartridges/ http://www.icompinkcartridges.co.uk/epson-r200-r300-r220-r320-r340-cleaning-kit.html

My magenta ink will not print out. All other colors (including black) are printing out fine and alignment is good. I have run the nozzle check, head cleaning, status monitor, and ink cartridge replacement,...

Depending on the age of the printer and how often it is used it could be a dead piezo element in the magenta head or some dirt that is trapped in the feed mechanism to the head. That's why i never use refilled or poor quality substitute cartridges. Some Epson printers lasts for ages but unfortunately due to the head being permanent on all epson inkjets the only way out is for the replacement of the heads or a new printer. You could also try the magenta cartridge on another same model epson if you have access to one to see if the cartridge is perhaps a dud. Or alternatively purchase another cartdridge and check it out.

Not printing magenta ink and tried cleaning heads already

Hi, one or two head cleans won't clear a clogged nozzle. Try doing 4 or 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://www.powerklin.co.uk/?gclid=CNGDypir-JgCFQ4yQgodZlC4lw

Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Note that head cleaning uses between 5 and ten percent of your ink cart's, if any are low on ink have some new ones ready. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.
