Sounds like the ext that is setup on your PC for XLS. is set to TXT. To fix just open My Documents
Choose tools from the menu - folder options - file types - scroll to XLS and see what its listed as. if TXT click the change button and choose Microsoft Excel. If its not in the list click the browse buttong and look in your programs file folder on your C drive for Microsoft Office and choose the folder Office 11 or 12 ( depends on verions installed on PC) and choose Excel.exe from there
If XLS is not under File Types click the new button - enter in XLS and ok then browse to the Excel.exe icon in your MS Office Folder and click ok.
From then on all your files will open in Excel with the ext. Txt

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
