Hi, i was wondering if the power supply for the ps3 60gb jp is suppose to be hot. I was testing out the ps3 for 30-40 min and touch the power supply, and it was hot, not warm just hot. So would it be wise to replace it? If so would a US power supply will work with my jp ps3

Re: Japanese ps3 power supply
US and Japanese power supplies are the same. The 60GB PS3's run hotter than any other models. I've never seen a power supply get hot, but if it is then it's probably a good idea to swap it since heat is the number one 60GB killer.

Panasonic will launch two new GPS systems in the form of the Strada CN-H500WD and CN-H500D. These in-dash car navigation systems feature "Motion Control" user interface, allowing you to manipulate the map with hand gestures. Both navigation gadgets also provide an integrated DVD/CD player, a 7-inch (800 x 480) LED-backlit touchscreen display, a 1Seg TV tuner, SRS WOW HD, a 60GB of internal HDD and the Panasonic PEAKS image processor. The Panasonic CN-H500WD and CN-H500D will be available in the Japanese market in August 2011.
Putting that model number into Panasonic Support search only brings up details in Japanese.
Your PS3 may be overheating. Check the exhaust of the ps3 where the hot air comes out for any excessive dust. If you have a 60GB PS3, you can blow them out by turning off the PS3 by the back switch and then turning it on using the back switch with you finger on the eject button. The PS3 should beep 3 times and your fans should go at full tilt for about 30sec to 1 min.
Your console is going into protection mode to protect the from being damaged.
First thing do is check the ventilation, make sure the fans are running, make sure you have min of 1 foot around the PS3.
If all is ok, with the PS3 in stand by mode Press and hold the power button for 5 secs.. until you hear the second beep this cause the PS3 to reset.
If you have the 60GB version then you might have a faulty power supply which was a known issue on these 60GB versions, if you have contact Sony and plead for a console repair free of charge, other than that they might do a repair but it will cost approx £145 in the UK.

Hi my name is Juan and unfortunately your ps3 is dead what happen is that for some reason it got so hot and the processor stop working when you turn on the ps3 it does a self test and if something is not working right it turns off immediately with a green yellow red light so don't spend your money in another power supply I can guaranty to you is not the power supply I do sell and fix playstations and this is why I know this this problem is common on the 60Gb and 80Gb also in 40Gb but not like on the 60and 80Gb
Sony will not sell any parts for the PS3 because they want you to send it in for repairs and charge you for it.
I never heard of "tired power supply".
It's either working or not.
I sell parts sometimes on ebay.
Contact me at email@example.com. I can let you know when i have one available if interested.
if it does not turn on then its the power supply.. make sure you get a power supply matching your ps3.. the 60gb models have chrome like housing the 40gb have a dull grey color .. different wattage used means different supply is needed.. if you need more help let me know
Copied from another forum: "On the PS3 from Standby (red light on) depress the power button till you hear two beeps. That will reset the resolution and you should get a picture."
