Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer
My Maytag Neptune Electric dryer started a couple days ago making a vibrating noise while I was drying a load of clothes. Sometimes it seems it gets quiter and then louder - it sounds like something is vibrating on the back of it. This just started
A bearing in the back for your drum sounds like what you describe. It needs to be taken apart and the bearing lubricated with high temp grease

The problem with your Maytag Neptune dryer vibrating is typically the fan blower wheel. It is plastic and sometimes it will become loaded with lint to create the imbalance other times where it slides onto the motor shaft cracks and it is loose. I have found more with lint, but seen a few cracked as well. The rear of the drum rides on a felt seal, and assuming that is in place the two rear rollers are fine, the wheel is typically the culprit. Jerry.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
