Question about Sony KV-27V42 27" TV
Tv WON'T TURN ON. sTANBY TIMER LIGHT FLASHES, 2 BLINKS THEN PAUSES, THEN 2 BLINKS AGAIN.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AND SHOULD I GET A 11 YEAR OLD TV FIXED? IS IT AN EXPENSIVE FIX?
The 2 blinks usually mea an over current problem. Perhaps the most common cause of this is a shortde Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT). If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. Realize that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside the set even when unplugged. Look for a 3-legged ransistor attached to a heatsink close to the flyback (part with large red wire coming out the top). The part will be marked C5438 or something similar. Post that marking here nad I'll confirm the entire part number.
