The belt pully on the motor has a set screw that tends to get loose causing the pully to change position on the shaft. Position the pully on the shaft (move up or down) for better alignment with the pully on the rotating array pully and tighten the set screw..

Where can I purchase a drive belt and motor pinion for a Furuno 1623 radar

The part number for the drive belt is 000-177-544-10 and runs $20.60. The motor gear may be difficult to find by itself. The seldom go bad and can be challenging to replace if you find one. Hopefully the belt will solve your problem. Go the www.furunousa.com and locate an authorized dealer to order the part from. Typically, Furuno will not sell direct to end users.

Have a furuno fr240 mark 2 and rafar image return only when changing range. also when given time image slowly returns but later radar dies. what problem can it be?

Of course this could be many things, but it sounds like your auto clutter < labeled by Furuno as AC Sea Auto, is on and out of adjustment. Try turning off auto sea clutter and manually declutter the screen, should help, otherwise, 847-746-0100 will definately help you.
