HP Laserjet 2430n printer won't see the paper in Tray 2. Continues to give in display paper size *letter and *plain but I set it and it just comes back asking again. When you print it won't pickup from...

Yes I checked the tray throughly. I also changed to paper to legal plain and changed the configuration...still came back on the display panel change paper size...just won't stop asking.

If I put the add-on paper tray 500 sheet that tray works fine.

I was thinking though I might order another paper tray and try it since I replaced the pickup assy and still have problems...what do you think

I also cold reset the printer just in the event something was set wrong...still has problems

My HP Photosmart 2575 All-In-One InkJet Printer wont take paper and i dont even see the rollers moving inside. I dont know how to take it completely apart to get a good look inside but i dont see any...

Turn off the Printer
open the Rear Access door
Clean the Rollers with Lint Free cloth ( Upwards just like the paper is picked and rolled )
Close the Rear Access Door

Stack the Paper Tray properly and place the papers in the tray ( Scuffle the papers before placing )

Power on the printer and it should pick the paper

Tray which printer prints from.

Just had this problem and stumbled upon how to fix it. Check the guides in your tray 2. Our back guide was slightly off of the proper spot for letter size paper. This was causing the printer to think the tray had a custom size of paper in it. Your document is probably trying to print on letter size paper and when it doesn't think the paper is in there it switches to tray 1.

Wrong size paper jams

Take a trip into the Printer Driver for this printer and then select "Printer Properties"

Review the settings for the paper setup. Also, from your application, make sure you have "Letter" set as the desired page size.

Finally, if your printer has a "Paper Menu" go into that and set tray size to Letter.

Sharp AL-1631 bottom paper feed will not pick up paper.

A few things could be the problem.
  1. The paper in tray could be damaged
  2. The drawer separator pawls (metal taps on the right side of tray where paper touches)
  3. Paper backstop not in or in wrong spot (green plastic piece at back of paper)
  4. Feed tires are worn or dirty
Does the copier try and feed from tray 2? If it tries but the paper doesn't leave the try look and see if there is a dark mark on the page (top middle towards the right). If so then most likely the feed tire is worn.

Can I disable the lower print tray?

Hi wogan2:
Normaly when you get this problem it means that you need to replace the feed rollers in that tray.
Inspection
Rollers:
Replace the rollers when you see any of the following defects:
 Flat spots
 Out of roundness
 Cracked rubber
Loss of traction (tackiness) causing pick or feed failures.

Xerox paper pick roller
Part # 401-0882-00
Hope this helps

Machine telling me wrong paper size i have reset and reloaded but not working

Check the guides in the paper tray to make sure they match up to the proper position for your paper size. If for instance the paper tray is set to A1 by accident and you are using letter paper, then you request to print on letter sized paper the printer will think it doesn't have letter paper available and will ask for some. The position of the guides in the paper tray are what tells the printer what size paper is in that tray. Otherwise your paper settings in the paper meny are wrong as this can override the paper tray settings, check them to make sure they match the paper size in the trays also.

Not reading paper

If you toggle the Feed Switch button (lower left side of control panel) to the Front Tray, does the printer print then? What type of paper is selected in your Printer Settings on the computer? I think that if you have selected anything but Plain Paper, the driver wants you to load the paper (photo paper, etc.) in the Rear Tray.

6400 'out of paper' but paper IS in tray

Hi Tabitha Most likely problem is that the feed roller has gone out of synch with the other parts. Wha6t you need to do is dismantle the machine and just realign the feed roller in the ASF. It sounds daunting, but it's really quite easy. I suggest you get a service manual (http://www.TheServiceManualSHop.com) and take the machine apart to allow access to the ASF. Remove the ASF from the machine and simply turn the drive gears so the ASF goes through a full "paper feed" cycle. Once done the rubber feed wheel will come to rest with it's flat spot facing the cork pad and you can put it back together. Whilst it's in pieces, check the paper sensor is still in tact. If it's broken you can glue it back together with superglue. If the broken part is lost you can make another one from another pice of plastic and glue it in place. Once assembled, it should work fine.
