Question about Intel Desktop Board SE440BX-2 Motherboard

1 Answer

I have an intel SE440BX-2 that does not recognize my mouse and keyboard. The scroll lock, num lock, and caps lock all flash repeatedly. The keyboard and mouse do not work at all. Tried 2 different hard drives but got the same results. If it is a problem with my bios, how do I fix it? The computer was used in a business before I got it.

Oh yes, I have had this happen before and it sucks.

This problem is usually just due to having Num lock on. Try pressing the num lock button on your keyboard and see if this makes a difference. In the smaller notebooks and netbooks they combine the numbers and letters onto the same keys using num lock to distinguish the mode.

I think on your model the num lock button will be towards the top right of the keyboard. You may also have to press the FN (function) button at the same time, but I am not sure.

Also there should be a small led that illuminates or goes dark to inform you when num lock/scroll lock/caps lock are enabled/disabled.

On-screen real-time indicator showing the status of the Num, Caps and Scroll Lock buttons on the keyboard. NumCapsScroll Indicator monitors their status and indicates it in the System Tray with its icon, with a tool-tip when you mouse-over its System Tray icon, with a small On-screen Keyboard-like panel and a sound indicator. It's also an identical utility for laptops that are not supported with Num, Caps and Scroll Lock LEDs on their Keyboards.

What's new in this version: Version 7.0 is compatible with Windows 7.

No disply of my motherboard plzz help mee.

Good day sir/maam, hi, if your motherboard wont turn on, you need to make sure that these 5 things are in good order. (By the way, disconnect everything except these listed 5.)
  1. (PC is on) Your power supply, make sure that the exhaust fan is spinning as you turn it on.
  2. (PC is off) Your memory module, (ddr1 or ddr2) clean the contacts using an eraser(pencil) the gold plate contacts and a clean brush your motherboard memory slot.
  3. connect the casing's pc speaker on the motherboard.
  4. connect a video card, make sure its good. If you are using the motherboard's VGA, dont connect a video card. Temporarily reset the CMOS, use or locate cmos battery jumper setting. usually its 1&2 set the jumper to 2&3, then back to 1&2. connect a good monitor.
  5. Connect a keyboard.
Now power on your PC, check your Keyboard, you should see two sets of lights: first set (NUM LOCK + CAPS LOCK + SCROLL LOCK) then a few seconds the second set (NUM LOCK only). at this point you should hear a beep from the PC speaker.

If not, you may hear 1 long and 3 short beeps. bad video card. OR continous beeps, bad motherboard.

If you did not hear anything, do it all over again several times.

Still not working? replace your motherboard, its bad.

hope this helps.

This link is for the owners manual on that board,
http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d850mv/sb/mdmvenglish.pdf

On page 47 it states F2 is used to get into the bios, press repeatedly while booting so you don't miss the window, and of course check you keyboard, it should flash the caps, num, and scroll lock lights on boot.
