Re: TRUTECH PLV16190 Capacitor replacement what type
I take it there is a bad capacitor on the inverter? The board that powers up the lights for the screen.Any bad ones on the power board as well? The two PLV16190 I fixed had bad capacitors on both boards.Usually the tops, and or bottoms bulge out when they go bad. When you do go to replace them, you can get ones with a higher value on both specs, but not lower. For example,if there is a 10V 1000UF,and a 16V 1000 UF,you can replace them both with 16V 1000UF,and it will work perfect. You can also use different heights as well,as long as there is enough room. The type you want are called Aluminum Electrolytic.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

I just had the same problem this morning, but my monitor is now up and running. First, I tried unplugging from the wall for a long time to discharge any capacitance - still didn't work. Next, I took the back of the TV apart and reseated connectors - stll no good. Next, I unscrewed the power board and replaced the main large inlet capacitor - still no good. Finally, I was about to throw it out the window when I decided to reflow the solder on the main controller board using my hot air gun. Yes, it worked and is working right now! I would not advise doing a hot air reflow unless you are ready to throw it in the garbage. Explanation: Solder joints can become stressed, (seems like it happens a lot when the weather gets colder) sometimes causing them to split or fracture. By heating up the solder, you allow the cracked joints to reflow and rejoin once again making good electrical connection.
Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the circuit boards. If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!
Try the Universal remote control URC-R6 it works fine with my Truetech.
The bad thing about my Truetech PLV16190 19" Flatscreen, 30days after I purchase the remote the tv went out. Screen Black, but sound works fine.
Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the board that the power cord is hooked to.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again. Most of the time the big black capacitor on the power board goes bad,and bottom bulges out,but sometimes it is the other capacitors as well.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!
They are called capacitors. You have to unsolder the bad ones, and solder in the new ones.Have you removed the back of the TV yet?I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

Probably a faulty backlight inverter circuit. This circuit usually has two blown capacitors that will need to be replaced and their failure can sometimes lead to the failure of a capacitor in the low voltage section of the main power supply.
The official website for this item is http://1800customersupport.com/trutech. Try emailing them, or call them at 1-888-252-6252. Trutech is the store brand for Target stores, so many different companies make their products. This website isn't the official site for ALL Trutech products, just some of them, like this 19" LCD TV.
