Thank you for your quick response!
Maybe you are on the right track but I don't recall that I ever typed in a
4-number code to block the machine!
The procedure is described in the users manual but maybe the player went
into a block-mode by "accident". You never know what happens when you are
dealing with microcomputerbased equipment, hehe.

Do you know of any "master-reset" procedure?

I would image it's eitehr a Region problem or a parental level problem.
Ensure the region DVD matches the Region of your DVD player.
Also check the parental rating level within the DVD player is not active or
set to 18
