SOURCE: Galaxy dx99v cb radio

I see no one has responded to your question. The reason may be that the information is a bit vague. The are a lot of reasons a radio won't receive. In the Galaxy 99, the mic doesn't have to be connected to receive a signal so that illimates the mic possibilities. I have found that in some of the Galaxys I have worked on, that the if section ( thats the section near the pll chip, has cold solder joints ( broken solder connections to the pc board ). You may want to look real close at the pc side of the board with a magnifing glass and see if you can find any electronic components ( resistors, transistors. etc ) loose. Good Luck

SOURCE: my galaxy 959 cb radio wil not put out any transmit

Hi,

Based on your post of no transmit, a couple of possibilities:
1. defective microphone or cord or PTT switch (the red TX light does not come on when pressed);
2. TX light comes on but no output, defective finals and/or drivers. These are the transistors screwed to the chassis of the radio very near the antenna terminal;
3. defective regulator IC that provides the TX B+;
5. insufficient amperage from you power supply;
6. too high SWR.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: radio shack cb radio 21-1703

OK. I do not know the exact number for the diode off hand, because I don't have the same radio in front of me. On most cb radios, this diode is usually located on the component side of the pc board, close to where the positive lead solders to the board. Most of the time when it burns, it just becomes brittle.

If you do replace it on your own. The diode is called a rectifier diode, which you can pick up at radio shack or at partsexpress.com. The part number is between 1N4001 to 1N4008. When installing be sure to observe polarity, making sure that the side with the silver band is facing the direction of the arrow.

If I can help anymore, please don't hesitate to ask.

SOURCE: will 25 amp power supply pull 250-linear?

Yes it could, but... but it also depends on your antenna, what antenna are you using. Do not upgrade the power of your radio unless you know your antenna can handle the output power.

I just got my first cb and am trying to install it. I have connected the red wire in the fuse box( to the radio) and grounded the black wire. turned the car on and I cannot get any power to the CB, but the...

Take a deep breath and start over! The best way to power this little radio is probably through the cigarette lighter or 12vdc accessory jack. It is simple and straight forward and no fuse box or negative ground wires to worry about. Go the Radio Shack, purchase an adaptor (cig lighter type) and hook it up to your radio wiring being careful to watch polarity. You may have to have your ignition on to run the radio, but that is much safer that maybe blowing up the unit.

Unless you are running a larger more powerful unit or an amp, there is no added benefit to hooking the radio into the fuse box.

Can cigarette lighter plug be used for 93t galaxy radio?

Yes, but be very careful of polarity. If you hook it up backwards the radio will stop working because it will blow the polarity protection diode.

Have cobra 29 nw ltd keeps blowing fuses inline and in cigarette lighter adapter adapter is 10 amps and inline is no more than 5 amps

This is an easy fix if you are comfortable soldering.

You must have hooked it up backwards. Big problem when using a cigarette lighter adapter. You have to be careful, if you hook a radio up backwards you blow the polarity protection diode.

  • Go to radio shack and buy an N1004 diode.
  • Open the radio
  • Look towards the back right of the radio for a black diode D23. it will probably look burnt, but not always.
  • Use a soldering wick to remove the solder holding the diode in.
  • Remove it, and replace the diode making sure its going in the same direction as the old on. Strip on the side the triangle is pointing.
  • Solder it in.
  • Test the radio
That should do it.

Make sure you are careful to hook the radio up to power corrctly.

Radio fuse keeps blowing

make sure nothing in cig lighter socket..coins,etc..if nothing present,unplug cig lighter socket and replace fuse..if fuse doesn't blow,it's the socket causing fault..if it does,unplug radio,plug cig lighter back in and replace fuse..if fuse doesn't blow,radio is cause of fault..if it does,then ther is short in wiring
