Do not replace plug if you are melting plug then you are putting a band aid where you need stiches, you have a over heating problem with that heater or outlet which could lead to a fire call a pro or stop using heater

Hi I have a Dimplex electric fireplace model# CS3311. I had the Remote Receiver plugged into the wall outlet and the Unit Plug was plugged into the side of the Remote Receiver, just like it says to do in...

Lisa, apparently there was an electrical overload in the receiver box. I assume this electric stove is new and still under warranty. In which case, armed with your Proof of Purchase, you need to contact Dimplex USA or the retailer you purchased it from.

I have a ;asko 5141 model space heater and every time we plug it into a different outlet it melts the plug or the end of the plug on the heater. i've only had this heater for a hort time. what is the cause...

Have an electrician check the cord for a short circuit. It unit is under 3 years old it will be covered under Lasko's Warranty. Cord can be replaced, but it takes a special bit to take apart and know how to replace cord. You need a person you know who is Electrically and Mechanically capable for a safe repair.

Lakewood heater model 6500 the top high low knob melted and started smoking. i immeadiately removed it andsaw the melted plastic.the unit seemsto still work fine. is it safe to use?

you can still use this heater, but continue to monitor its operation. If it gets hot enough to start smoking again, discontinue use and purchase a new one. Your safety means EVERYTHING!!!!!!

The elec plug wire going into the back of the heater, one side of it melted i replaced the melted part, it only lasted a few days, could you tell me what i need to replace-thank you

If the wires to this unit keep melting then you are drawing way to many amps than the cord is rated for. there must be some other issue if you keep melting wires. I would not use this till it is checked out to make sure there are no shorts in the unit itself. This will lead to a fire if not done correctly. If the cord needs replaced then replace it with at least a size 12 or better yet a #10 wire, this will provide more than enough current capacity. Have you contacted the manufature for advise?

Looks like the plug started to burn. I am

If the plug started to melt, any electrician could change the plug. Sounds like the cause was a worn out recepticle though. When the blades in the recepticle lose their tension a lot of heat uilds up. This could cause a fire. I would have that recepticle checked/replaced also.

I have a Dimplex CS1205. Plug hot and melted outlet cover.

Many people think melting plugs and outlets are caused by the appliance that is plugged into them. It is very likly that the outlet is worn or loose or wiring connections are loose or the receptical is faulty. Arcing is a major cause for this condition and all of the above issues can cause arcing. This condition usually only happens when high draw appliances are plugged into the outlet. So a lamp could work fine in the outlet for 10 years then a toaster or heater is plugged in and a loose connection causes current to jump from the receptical to the plug prong which inturn causes tremendous heat.

My lakewood electric heater plug gets hot and starts melting, I have to use a three prong adapter to plug this in..can u help?

Sounds like heat element is defective drawing too much current. Make sure you are not using an extension cord on this heater, it has to be plugged directly into wall socket. Post model number on here so we know what unit we are dealing with.

Poor contact at the receptacle will cause the plug to heat. Look at the plug prongs for any sign of discoloration or arcing. You may need to replace the receptacle and/or plug.

The heater plug melted

Induction coil heaters draw very high amperage (12-14 amps) when turned on. If your outlet is worn or old the heater plug prongs will not have a good connection and the current will jump or arc from the outlet to the heater plug prongs. This arcing causes tremendous heat, enough to melt the outlet and the cord end. First thing to do is change the outlet.
