I have an X75 at home and I remember the computer has to be on to copy, so it's really just doing a scan and then an immediate print.

Make sure your computer is on. If it still doesn't copy, launch the Lexmark All-In-One Center software on the computer. You can do a copy from there... and it should put a little icon in your systray (lower right area of the screen)... that might re-enable the copy from the button.

Nothing happens when i press scan button

Nothing will happen unless it's connected to a computer with scanning software running. If you want a copy you press copy and it will scan and make a copy, but if you want to scan you need the software to tell it how to scan, what you're scanning, and how to save the scanned image.

Hp 1401 psc scanner won't work

Is this a new set up or did it scan before? If it's a new set up you must have scaning software installed on the PC and set up with the printer. You have to tell the scaner via the PC where to save the file.I think this is your problem?Good Luck.

Scaning

The link above will take you to a User's Manual for your particular All-In-One. On page 1-2 INTRODUCTION, it shows the button that needs to be pressed in order to access the Scan Mode of your MFC-420CN. Installed software that came with the model should open up when the button is pressed. If not, consult the manual on how to install the software again.

Or you may want to use existing Windows software (example: in Windows Vista, you can use Windows Fax and Scan).

Hope this helps! Give me a rating if it does, thanks!

Issue When the scan button is pressed on the product, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly. Workaround Choose one of the following options to scan without using the scan button. Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan
  1. Click the Windows icon (c01319360.gif ), click Programs , and then click Windows Fax and Scan . Scaning . . . Scanning. . .. not scanned

Not sure if this is the correct way around, but it worked.  Go to Start --> All programs --> Dell Printers --> Dell Photo AIO Printer 922 --> Dell All-in-one center

From here, you can determine and change your scan settings as needed;  then click "scan now" (thus by-passing the button on the actual AIO machine).  This scanned photos into my picture program so I could email to all the grandparents!
