Hi , I have a pioneer DV 285. While watching a movie the screen on my tv went blank, I looked at the dvd player and saw that there was no power on the dvd player, after searching a bit I found that I was sitting on the remote. I turned the power back on and the dvd player says it's loading for about 15 sec then the power goes off automatically. If I remove the disk the power always stays on but as soon as you put a disk into the dvd pkayer it powers down after 15 sec. Does anyone have any idea's ?
Hi There, I've got the same problems with my DV 285. My power started going off approximately 5 to 10 minutes into the DVD. The only button that seems to work is the OPEN/CLOSE button. Once the tray closes, the unit shuts off. I can't even use the on/standby button to turn it on.

My DV-220KV-K, which is sold as a Multi Region DVD player has locked up on me. The following message comes onto the TV screen...
(Player's Region Setting)
<1> : Region
<2> : Region
<3> : Region
<4> : Region
<5> : Region
<6> : Region
Pick out any one of these!
The message remains on the screen ALL the time and I'm locked out of viewing anything. The remote is locked and so I cannot pick any of the region numbers!
Dear friends in problem solving.
My husband actually solved this problem by writing in the browser: Manual for Pioneer DV-410V DVD player.
That was available online and there it said that not all formats was supported by the USB port, so we tried to load a movie on a pen drive, insert it in the player and it opened and we just clicked play, so it was actually an issue of having an incompatible video file on the pen drive that made it not open in the first place.
