Hotpoint w440 washer/dryer keeps repeating cycle load?

I was just wondering if anyone else had had the same problem. I put the washing machine on this morning before i went out and when i got back hours later, the load was still going. its almost like it jus keeps repeating itself over and over until you cancel it?
i just cancelled the cycle and turned the machine off. Any idea what this could be or how to get around this?

Hi there, I've got a Hotpoint Aquarius washer / dryer and this has just started happening to me - it seems to get to the end of the cycle then repeat itself. However, I do not seem to be able to cancel the cycle, or am I able to switch it off. It's been going for about 4 hours now. Any ideas?

My hotpoint aqaurius WD420 is not drying.

Could be stat or heater .Remove the top cover, and you will see the heater manifold on the right side of washer drum.
The element and stat/s are located on the top of the manifold box.
You willneed a meter to test with, also check for broken wires.

Wash programme won't finish

this happened to my machine, I had to get a repair guy out in the end and he said it was the heating element had gone and that was why the cycle wouldn't move on as it could not heat the water to right temp.
he charged me £60 to repair and for part, still a lot cheaper than hotpoint though. try to get a local guy, hotpoint charge £100 basic.
