IT IS HELPFUL....WHAT I CAN GATHER FROM YOU, ONE SHOULD NEVER USE THE SELF CLEANING FEATURE, ALWAYS CLEAN WITH SOMETHING ELSE. I PLAN TO USE BAKING SODA AND EITHER WATER OR VINEGAR. IF YOU DO USE THE SELF CLEANING FEATURE, IT WILL EVENTUALLY BURN ITSELF, AND OTHER PARTS, UP. RIGHT?

    THANK YOU.

It is best to clean a self cleaning oven with anything except the self cleaning feature.
The self cleaning feature will eventually destroy other parts causing repair.

How to clean stubborn burned on stains in the stainless steel oven

You need to use ordinary soap as a lubricant and a fine steel wool to buff the steel surface. That will remove any built up surface debris completely but you may still have some discolouration of the metal remain.
An automotive polish designed for polishing stainless steel and aluminium (available from auto parts stores) might finish the job for you and remove much of any remaining staining but I would not use a chemical of that type on an inside surface that is used for cooking your food. (Same issue with those dreadful chemical and toxic oven cleaners).

Unfortunately, with use of the unit and heat , you will get some residual discolouration of the stainless steel.

I wouldn't. The plastic will give off some very acrid, toxic fumes if you try to self-clean it. First use a damp sponge to wipe up the baking soda. After that, you might be able to turn on the oven just a little bit to soften the plastic residue, then carefully, use a putty knife to scrape up the plastic residue from the oven floor.

How do I use the self cleaning functions - kitchenaid oven

Hi,

Please allow me to help you first with some background of self cleaning functions:

Self-cleaning ovens use an approximately 900 degrees Fahrenheit (482 degrees Celsius) temperature cycle to burn off spills leftover from baking, without the use of any chemicals. A self-cleaning oven is designed with a mechanical interlock (patented in 1982) to keep the oven door locked and closed during and soon after the high-temperature cleaning cycle, which can be approximately three hours. The door stays locked to prevent burn injuries. You can open the oven door after the oven cools to approximately 600 F (315 C).

If baking spills are not wiped up after baking, there may be some smoke during an oven cleaning cycle. It is a good idea to remove any pets from the area when running the oven's self-cleaning cycle. There have been reports of oven-heated Teflon-coated items releasing odorless fumes deadly to birds.
Self-cleaning ovens have the added benefit of more insulation, which helps the energy efficiency for regular baking. This is similar in concept to an increased R-factor for home insulation.

You will also save energy costs by using the self-cleaning cycle right after baking, to make use of the already partially heated oven.

Please check this website mentioned bellow which would give you a detailed method of how to perform it:

Hope this would help you .

God Bless.

Need directions to clean my tappan oven

1. Add baking soda to a cool oven. Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda onto the bottom of the oven. Make sure the oven is completely cool before you attempt to do this. 2. Spray the baking soda with water. Using a spray bottle, spray the baking soda down until it is damp, not saturated. The water and baking soda together will help break down the food particles. 3. Continue spraying baking soda as it dries out. Every few hours spray the baking soda down again to keep it moist. Continue this process over several hours, spraying water as the baking soda begins to dry out. 4. Scrape out the baking soda. Scrape the baking soda out of the oven. Food residue will be scraped out with the baking soda. 5. Rinse the bottom of the oven out thoroughly. Yes, you'll still have to rinse out the oven, but next time you cook your food won't have an added taste of oven cleaner.

If I had the rest of your model number I may find what Tappan now Fridgedaire Electrolux reccomends, but this is the least toxic. Have a great day..

Self-cleaning ovens are the easiest type of oven to clean. Simply remove the oven racks, it should be fairly simple.Take everything out of the oven, including the grill. At the top of your oven door, there should be a latch. Lock that, then look on your setting dial. There should be a self-clean notch on it. Turn your dial to that and let it do its thing: The timer will shut it off and unlock the door when it's done.
set your oven to the cleaning mode, then wait a few hours. After the cleaning cycle is complete, you will need to wipe up the residue inside the oven with a damp cloth or sponge. While your self-cleaning oven is doing its job, take time to scrub down your oven racks with a steel wool detergent pad. The exterior of your oven can be cleaned with a sponge. Use basic window cleaner to clean and shine any glass or chrome areas.

If your oven is not a continuous or self-cleaning model, you are in for a little more work. Make sure you have rubber gloves (the longer, the better) to protect your skin from harsh cleanser. You will need to purchase a cleaner specially made for cleaning ovens. Be sure to ventilate the room well as these types of cleaners give off potentially harmful fumes.

How long you leave the cleaner on the interior of your oven will depend on the directions on the can. Most oven cleaners will need to be left on for several hours or overnight, others explicitly state that it should not be left on for longer than 2 hours. When removing the cleaner, be prepared for a lot of scrubbing and rinsing. You will want to ensure that all the oven cleaner is removed from the oven before use.

Perhaps you don't want to use harsh cleansers on your oven. In this case, you will find that a simple mixture of white vinegar and baking soda can do the job. Lightly moisten the interior of your oven with water. Then, apply a thick layer of baking soda. Allow the baking soda to sit for about three hours.

After three hours, spray the entire oven with white vinegar in a spray bottle. You will notice that when the vinegar hits the baking soda, fizzing occurs. This fizzing action helps remove stuck-on mess almost as easily as any commercial cleaner. Allow the vinegar and baking soda to sit for a few more hours. Then, simply remove with a damp sponge and some water.hope this helps pls apreciate with a fixyaa rating thanks and Godbless
