No spark on # 5 cylender 1989 cavalier z24

I have a 1989 cavalier z24 with a 2.8L v6 im not getting spark on my #5 cylender i just changed the coil pack and wires and spark plugs and i am still getting no spark on that cylender

    i changed my crank shaft sencor and my car now runs like new it is a fairly cheep part and is located on the back of the block frome the underside if that doesent solve your problem it may be your coilpack modual whitch can get quite expencive (around the $150 mark ) so i would try the crank shaft sencor first to find it clime under your car so you can see the back of the block there will be a wire coming from the pasenger side of the engine that plugs into what lookes almost like a temp sencor. thats it . one little nut holds it in change it out and give it a try and have fun

    My 1989 Z24 2.8 has number 3 cylinder at the back not firing all the time and I pulled the plug and it's wet with gas. Weak spark and under load it cuts in and out as I let off the gas. Changed the coil pack platinum plugs and the wires! Still a problem.

Change the control modul. that control voltage to the coils. it sound like it not bleeding off fast enough the control modul is under the coils. befoe changing any part remove ground off battery. befor change any coils u could of swop to see if this is still not firing

Ok so follow the plug wires from spark plug to the other end that is the coil that it plugs into one end is spark plug the other is coil if the car run good before replacing wires and plugs more than likely you crossed a wire and nothing wrong with the coil and if i remember right its a 3 pack coil meaning there is 3 coils wich one would be bad is beyond me you can get a coil tester to find out but they are pricey or maybe take them off and some parts stores can test them

You might want to look for a vacuum leak on the intake manifold. You also might need to hook up a scope and measure injector duty cycle and compare it with a good cylinder. Also check wiring for chaffing going to the injectors and coil pack. I can provide you with pin out on ECM if you need.

Geting no spark to cylenders 5 & 6

Hi there:
  • Check the spark plug wires and the coil wire, ensure that the spark plug wires are securely attached to the spark plugs and the distributor cap.

  • Check the wire routing in order to ensure that cross-firing is not occurring. If the misfire occurs when the weather is damp, the problem could be due to worn plug wires.

I have a 1989 dodge dakota sport and im not getting any spark at the plugs ive changed the coil, distributor cap,rotor button and still no spark and changed the stater any help?

check your fuses or your timing is off if your timing is off get your timing light if that dont work and is the motor even cranking over

Its a 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 V6. Wont start. Replaced the fuel pump, filter and strainer and its getting fuel now but still wont start. help!!!!

check for spark, at the spark plug wires. pull one off , get a helper, put a screwdriver in the sparkplug boot and hold it about 1/4 inch away from something metal on the car engine, have a friend start the car while you look for a small lighting bolt to jump from the screwdriver to the cars metal part. if you dont see spark you got bad parts somewhere. HOLD THE RUBBER ON THE SCRWDRIVER so u dont get a zap

1989 v6 camry engine missfire

no your problem is definately the dizzie cap, as i found out to my cost on a lansia beta. any kind of crack in ur dizzie will cause probs. best way to find out is park your car in the dark open bonnet with engine running then get a mist spray with water in it spray at dizzie and you will see a slight yellow arc around the crack! any crack in bakelite distributors leads to loss of one or more banks

The COIL PACK TOWERS are numbered : coil----3---4 pack---2---6 plug----1---5 ----------------------------------------------------------------- The engine cylinders / spark plugs are numbered : passenger side , front to rear , 1 , 2 , 3 -----drivers side , front to rear , 4 , 5 , 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------- The spark plug firing order is ( 1 -4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 )

What is the easest way to get to and change a coil pack on a 05 ford escape

Depending on which motor you have will determine how to change the pack. I am not familiar with the 4 cylender motors but I assume that they are in the open. If you have the V6 then you are in for a little work. There are 3 packs in the front of the motor that are easly accessable. You will see them right on top. The other 3 are hidden under the intake manafold. If you are certian that it is a pack from under the manafold, Cylenders 4,5, or 6. Then do a search on how to change the spark plugs and you will find a very good page on how to get that manafold off. You will need new upper gaskets after removing the manafold. The new pack, and you may want to throw a new set of spark plugs in while you are there. If you have close to 100k miles on it then I would recomend that you change them while the intake is off.

Spark plug locations

If the car is missfireing, don't try to patch it one plug at a time. go ahead and replace them all at once. It will save you 5 more cylenders to hunt later.
