Question about Linksys WMP300N Pre-802.11n Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Cannot connect to wireless network

Installed Linksys WMP300n wireless adapter in my XP Pro system. Everything says it's connected correctly and working properly, Will not connect to the wireless network. Tried starting WZC service and then repairing connection, but I get message that Windows is unable to repair the connection. The adapter is listed on the compatible hardware list. Device Mgr. says working properly and no IRQ conflicts.
Computer doesn't show any wireless networks to connect to. My other computer works fine with same type card and same router.

May be your router needs a firmware upgrade.
check the router's website.

and make sure the router and the wireless card are both using the same 802.11 protocol

Connect another computer to wireless router instructions say go to site www.linksysfix.com/ela

on any standard UNSECURED router, all you should have to do is click connect under "Network connections" in Control Panel. However, if the wireless router you would like to connect to is SECURED (password protected), you will just need to type in the password required in the connections when prompted.

This is assuming the other computer you are trying to add is wireless capable.

If it says local or unidentified network that means you are just connected to the router on the network but not through the internet. Try to go to manage wireless network, remover your network there and add it again, connect to your own network and make sure to type the correct network key., then check again. You can also try connecting to other wireless network to further isolate the problem.

Disable or uninstall the Linksys software that manages and monitors the connection.

Use instead the Microsoft Windows Wireless configuration utility.

That's what I did and didn't get problem after.
